*Melanie's POV*
If you didn't read the end of the last chapter, I recommend you read it first.
I swallowed fear as my eyes scanned the contents of the first drawer that my fingers were tightened around the knob.
"Jace! What the fuck is this!" His eyes widened at my use of profanity, and he got up, walking confusedly over to me. I backed up as he got closer.
Those blue eyes fired as he saw the things in the drawer.
"Someone's been in here. Either that or you're framing me." He said with crossed arms and a blank face.
I slammed the drawer shut, not even wanting to look at the contents inside. Jace jumped at the loud thud. He tried to calm me by putting his arm around me.
But I shoved him off of me and back father away, "Get away from me!" My voice was harsh and loud, scaring not only Jace, but myself.
"I didn't do this! I swear!" His hands balled in fists at his sides, and took in a deep breath.
"Whoever did this had to have been in here more than once." The level of his voice was nervous and soft. He looked scared.
"You're right." I sighed, "We need to figure this out." My fingers tightened back around the drawer's knob, feeling the coldness from it spark through my hand and up my fingers. With hesitation, I pulled, revealing the inside contents.
Lumps filled my throat as my eyes met the content. Multiple pictures of me getting changed, sleeping, and playing on my phone filled the inside along with flash drives, and my bra and underwear that used to be on top of the pile of clean clothes. There were a few pictures of me kissing Jace, but he was crossed out. It made it obvious that it wasn't him behind this.
Feeling guilty for not giving Jace a chance at first to explain, I gave him a hug, sniffling on his shoulder. His arms wrapped around me, filling me with his warmth, and soothing me with the minty smell of his cologne.
After pulling away minutes later, I grabbed the photos, flash drives, under garments, and put them into a big yellow folder, labeling it 'Stalker.'
Plugging in one of the flash drives to my laptop, fear struck through me as I pressed play.
Someone was setting up the camera on what seemed to be the inside of the closet. Whoever set the camera up was smart enough to wear a mask. It made me sick just to think someone's been stalking me, and God knows how long. Quickly, I slammed the lid of my laptop down as Jace searched our dorm for any other stolen items or evidence. My head hung in my hands, tears falling down my cheeks.
Jace must've heard me sniffling, because he ran over to me and wrapped his hands around me, whispering in my ear to console me. I was scooped off of the kitchen chair and carried to the couch, where he kept me wrapped in his arms. He rocked me sort of like a baby, rubbing my back, probably unsure of what to do as well.
"I'm here for you, don't forget that. If there's a problem, or something out of place, tell me. Please." Jace said quietly, making my tears stop. I squeezed him tightly, and kissed his cheek.
"Thanks, Jace," I sighed.
"Sorry to be the thundercloud," he began, "but we need to tell someone."
I gulped. One word out, and I'm out of here, literally. My brother will book a flight and fly here to pick me up.
"Please Jace, don't."
