Jace's POV:

The sun shone through the cracks in the blinds, making my eyes slowly open. On my left, 7:15am flashed in red numbers on the clock. But my arm was wrapped around the prized gem on my right. Slowly breathing, Melanie slept, curled up under my arm.

It was just beginning to get light outside since it was now winter. A few months passed, and we are currently staying up in New York, close to my parents for a few weeks. The good news was that mother was doing better. Dad, mom, Jessica, and Mel are getting along very well. Jessica still doesn't come around as much. She's busy, she's rich. Her rich boyfriend proposed last month, and the wedding is sometime in the next year. Just because she's the older sibling, she feels as though the world revolves around her.

Melanie made a small groan in her sleep and snuggled closer to me. I pressed my lips to her head, making her squeeze me even tighter. She made me fail to hold in all of my smiles. Those beautiful green eyes met mine, and a small smile spread across her face.

"Morning, Mel," I pecked her forehead.

"Morning, Jace." Her voice was raspy, because she had just woken up.

"Shall we go get some food?" The hotel we're staying at had a full breakfast buffet. Melanie nodded her head in return, and I got up out of bed, searching my bag for an outfit. A couple minutes later, she grumbled as she managed to pull herself out of bed.

I slipped into some black jeans, and a red and black plaid flannel button down.

Melanie's POV:

My outfit was simple and cute for the weather. Black leggings, a long grey knit sweater, with long socks that go above my knee high boots. I left my hair down and put some mascara on. We grabbed our phones, and headed downstairs hand in hand.

The warmth from Jace's hand warmed me up. I was still cold from getting out of bed.

We both got waffles, and shared some fruit. My hands were wrapped around a steaming mug of coffee, filling me with caffeine to help me survive the day.

"You look stunning, babe," Jace smirked, making my cheeks pink. I lightly poked his hand with my fork as he went to grab the last strawberry. "Not this time, mister," we both gave each other a playful evil eye. For a few long seconds, Jace and I continued poking each other over the strawberry, until he finally got ahold of it. He took a bite of half of it then held the other half up to my mouth. I smiled then ate the half.

It was a short drive to Jace's parents house. The ground was covered with a thin blanket of snow, a natural beauty. Soon, holidays will be rolling around corner. But the car came to a stop before I could continue my thoughts.

"ah! It's freezing out here!" I announced. Jace chuckled and held my hand again as we waited at the door. Mr Parker was the first to open it, and he quickly let us inside. The smell of food roamed the air. He hugged the both of us, then led us into the kitchen after we hung our coats up.

"Mom is getting back into her cooking. She's been baking a lot too. Been bringing cookies to Jessica's office," Drew chuckled. Justine stood at the stove, stirring something inside of a pot. Whatever it was, it smelled delicious.

"Oh here they are!" She smiled and wrapped us both in a hug, kissing our cheek. Jace wiped his mom's kiss off of his cheek as soon as she turned around to stir the pot again.

"So how are you liking New York, Melanie?" Mrs.Parker asked me.

"I love it, it's beautiful and full of life," I couldn't help but smile.

"It truly is," she replied, "you know we have extra room here, you guys could stay here anytime. Jace's room is still like it was back when he was a little boy." Her arm extended to point to the staircase in the other room.

"Excuse us, I'll go show her. Haven't seen it in a while myself," Jace took my hand again, leading me up the wooden staircase, to a room on the right. He slowly opened the door to reveal his old bedroom.

The walls were a neutral shade of blue, and the floors were dark wood. His bed comforter was black and blue. He had a desk that was very neat and tidy.

Jace smiled and plopped down on his bed with a gigantic smile on his face. He was happy to be home. I plopped down next to him, and his smile only got bigger. We laid there for a couple minutes, smiling like small children.
