Melanie's POV:

Together, Jace and I stood up on the balcony, zipped in his jacket, looking at the busy city below us. Lights from cars sped past flashing lights coming from buildings. People looked like ants, small, and running around. It was quite calming. Even though the cool night breeze gave me goosebumps, I kept warm in Jace's jacket, our body heat circulating.

After a few more minutes of silence, we unzipped from each other and went back into the room. There was only one bed, and Jace insisted that I was the one to sleep in it.

With the lights turned off and the curtains closed, the room was dark, quiet, and relaxing. But just as I was drifting off to sleep, I could hear Jace tossing and turning on the couch that wasn't far from the bed.

"Jace, just sleep up here," I sighed and made a line of pillows separating our halves of the bed. He got under the covers and sighed in relief.

"Goodnight, Mel," he said and leaned over, kissing my forehead, leaving tingles from where his lips touched.

We woke up, tangled in pillows and blankets. The hair on our heads messed up, and the smell of our breath, disturbing. It's been a long time since I've woke up with someone else in my bed, snuggled in the blankets, sound asleep, mouth open wide, just like a baby. With a bunk bed at home, there was limited room before someone falls off the mattress.

For a minute, I laid there and thought. Memories of the past roamed my mind, being roommates with Jace, out partying. But before I could think of the horrid memories, Jace moved around. His blue eyes opened, and immediately met mine. He gave a small smile, and sat up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

Downstairs in the hotel, breakfast was set up on tables, ready to grab. Batter was mixed for us to put in the waffle maker, and different fruits were washed and displayed. Muffins, yogurt, bagels, juice, bacon. This is great.

After eating, Jace and I got dressed, and drove the car back to the hospital to visit Jace's mother. She was a sweet lady, staying positive with all of the deadly things in her life, living it like her last day.

Jace gave his mom a hug and kiss, then sat down next to her, holding her hand. She told us stories, and old memories of Jace and his sister. I never knew he had a sister, but it would be nice to meet her one day.

"So, Mrs. Parker, was Jace a trouble maker back then?" I chuckled, asking questions.

"Please darling, call me Justine," she smiled, rubbing my hand, "and yes, he was the biggest trouble maker of them all," Justine let out a laugh, looking at Jace, who smiled back at her.

"Is Jessica coming, ma?" Asked Jace.

"She was trying to find a flight last time I heard from her, probably be here soon."

"Jace I never knew you had a sister," we looked at each other from the opposite sides of the bed.

"Yeah, she's not around much." He shrugged.

Soon, Mr. Parker (Drew) came in with a bag of food, sharing with us all.

There was a knock at the door, and Jace opened it, revealing a female face, similar to Jace's. She had shoulder length brown hair, blue eyes, and she was about my height, which was average.

Her and Jace hugged, holding it for a minute. She was introduced as Jessica, Jace's sister. Everyone got hugs from her, including me.

Jessica stayed, but Jace and I had to go back to the hotel. On our way back, my phone buzzed.

Caleb: when will you be back?

I sighed, this is the first text I've gotten from him since I left, even though I've sent many.

Melanie: Don't know. Having fun though!

With that, I powered off the screen and looked out the window into the dark sky, as Jace drove back.

We slept the same way as we did the night before, on our own sides, pillows separating us, and that tingling spot on my for head, from a kiss.

Authors note:
Woah! It's been so long! Sorry for the long wait. I currently have no pre- written chapters, so it may take longer for updates. But hopefully I'll have time to write more. Thanks for reading!
