Class was so weird. I transformed into an eagle! I was concentrating, just like the teacher said. It was my 8th time trying to transform, and I was giving up. I focused all of my energy and imagined myself slowly shrinking in size, and then growing feathers, my vision becoming clearer and sharper, wings sprouting etc.. When I opened my eyes, I was standing in yellow felt.I felt lighter and like I could fly everywhere and see everything. I was an eagle! Yay!The only downside was that I was flopped down on my side, and it took me another half of the class of the class just to stand up, but after that I was able to walk around and kind of flutter a bit. Whew, it's rough transforming. But I can't believe that Emily's friend can't actually transform into anything! She was taken out of the classroom, and then came back, but now, during break, she is not here. Emily is still inside the classroom. We are waiting for her, because I suggested it.   I feel kind of bad for her, but I am also still kind of offended about the breakfast incident, but I decide to ignore that and be there for Emily.
"OMG! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT VICTORIA WAS A FAKE!"
Says Julia.
"I know, she fooled everyone, even me, up until now!"
I say.
"But how did she know about this place? I know I didn't."
Says Hazel.
"Besides that, class was so epic!"
Says Julia.
"I know! I love turning into an eagle! It's so weird and fun at the same time!"
"Totally!"
Agrees Rachel.
Rachel and Julia say. Hazel clears her throat. And then says:
"So, why did you guys think of both the teachers?"
"Um , Mrs. Fayette seems nice."
Says Julia.
"Yeah"
Rachel and I say in unison.  Just then, Emily comes out of the classroom. We all quiet, wondering what she'll do. She seems like she's holding it together, but if she is it I don't think it will last. She walks over towards us. She tentatively asks:
"Um, can I eat with you guys?"
"Sure!"
I reply.
"Are you ok?"
Asks Rachel.
"I mean, she is-was your friend, right?"
" I'm fine,"
Emily replies.
"Just a little..tired I guess. I mean, she told me she couldn't transform, but I couldn't do anything, and I kind of forgot, so I just left it alone. I think I'm gonna go hang out in my room if any of you wanna come."
She expects one of us to offer to come with her, but we don't. Instead Julia says:
"Well why don't you come hang at my place? We're all going over there anyway. "
"Sure!"
Agrees Emily. We take her back with us to Julia's place. Julia orders up some Teen Vogue magazines and we go through them, talking about them. Emily doesn't seem that interested, so I say:
"So Emily, what do you like to do during your breaks?"
"Um, I don't know, I guess I hang-hung out with Victoria, but now that she's gone, I have nothing to do.."
"Well, what did you do at home? Like before you came here?"
"Well, I spent a lot of time on social media, and this app called musical.y. I want to be a film producer when I grow up.
" That's cool!"
Says Rachel.
"I always wanted to design the costumes for movies!"
"I always wanted to be a model."
Says Hazel.
"I wanted to be a hairdresser!"
Says Julia.
"I always wanted to be a pop star. My mom had a really good voice and people say that it got passed down to me."
"Cool!"
Says Julia.
"So do you guys wanna do makeovers again? Last time was like really fun!"
Says Hazel.
"Yes!"
Julia, Rachel and I say. Emily looks uncomfortable.
"Don't you want to?"
I ask.
"Um.. I don't really.. I don't really like makeup."
" WHAT?!"
We all say in unison.
"Um..."
Emily says.
Hazel looks at her in disgust. Rachel and Julia look astounded. But I understand. We all have different opinions about different things, and just because she doesn't like makeup doesn't mean we can't be friends with her.
"That's ok,"
Julia says after a brief pause
"Yeah!"
I reply. Just then the loudspeaker comes on and says:
"All student please report back to class!"
We all walk out, but not together. Hazel and Rachel walk a little further away from Emily and Julia and I. Our next class is Health class, where we learn how to heal ourselves according to our powers. The teacher is Mrs. Vance, a smart-looking woman. She sits down at the desk and pulls out a wooden hammer.
"Sit down everyone!"
She says and bangs her hammer. We all sit down and are silent. I am sitting between Emily and Julia, and she is next to Rachel, who is next to Hazel.
"Good,"
She says.
"Today you will learn how to heal a scratch. This is the most basic technique, and you will be building on this. This is the base of the base, and if you can not do this please come see me towards the end of lunch. To actually do this,You will need to focus on the scratch. Imagine it slowly closing up. Keep doing that until it actually does!"
Well that seems simple enough, I think I'll be able to do that since I transformed into an eagle! All of a sudden, a scratch appears on my right arm.
"Ow!"
I say. I hear a few other kids say the same.I look around find and see that everyone else has one too. So, I guess this means that we are supposed to heal ourselves. I focus on the scratch. I imagine a tingling sensation, and then it closing up. But it doesn't work. I try again. And again. And again. Finally, on the 5th try, it works. I feel a tingle in my arm and I see steam come out of my scratch, temporarily blocking me from seeing it. When the steam is gone, so is the scratch.
"I did it!"
I yell. Everyone in the class turns to look at me, and Mrs.Vance bangs her hammer in the table. Oops. I look down at my lap and notice that Emily and Julia are done too. I high five them from under the table, and we all smile at each other. I turn my attention to Hazel and Rachel. After a few minutes, Rachel succeeds. We give her a high five and we all whisper, waiting for Hazel to finish, but she doesn't. Not even by the end of the period. Oh well.. I guess she's a slow learner? She didn't do well in creatures class or transformation either. Maybe she's just a late bloomer.
