Lunch was really awkward. We all hung together again, but Hazel and Rachel were sitting a few inches away from us. Taj and Zayne and Aaron hung out with us again. But we all were kind in our separate "groups". Zayne and Taj talked to us, while Aaron and one of his other friends, Dylan, talked to Rachel and Hazel. Hazel keeps looking over at Emily, making a face, and then whispering into Rachel's ear. That's really rude. Just because Emily isn't as much of a girly-girl as us doesn't mean that we shouldn't accept her! Everyone is different! Hazel refuses to talk to either Emily, Julia or I.After a while, Emily says:
"So, I was wondering if you guys wanted to come over today!"
"Sure!"
Julia and I say.
"Uh no!"
Hazel replies.
"I'll come too!"
"Count me in!"
Zayne and Taj say.
Emily leads us down a series of twist hallways and after a few minutes, we finally arrive in the nature part of school. It's all green, and a lot less formal then our area. Emily takes us into her common room, and I immediately spot a huge photo booth.
"You guys have a photo booth?!"
I say.
"We do?"
Emily replies.
"Yeah! It's right over there!"
I point it out. That's when Taj says:
"Well, why don't we take some photos? It's big enough for all of us!"
"You're right!"
Julia says. So we head over to it. Nobody is in line, and we find some props inside. I grab a fake mustache, Emily grabs some hug glasses, Taj grabs a clown nose, and Julia and Zayne both grab signs that say things like
"Totally clueless"
And
"Help!"
We take a crazy amount of photos, and then we all quickly head back to our dorms to put away our photos. After lunch, we have transportation class, taught by Mr. Abbott. We are really early, again, so we take our seats. I almost reach into my bag and pull out some magazines, but then I remember that Emily doesn't like magazines. So we all sit there, at the back of the class until all of a sudden, we hear the door open. Mr. Abbott walks in, sporting bright a orange shirt, khakis and a superman cape. I giggle, but cover my mouth just in time, so it doesn't make a really loud noise. Mr. Abbott luckily doesn't hear us, and so he sits down on his chair, and starts putting textbooks on all the desks. When he arrives at the back, he notices us.
"Oh, ⒽⒺⓎ guys, I guess you're here early. Do whatever you want, you're welcome to draw on the chalkboard. But down tell anyone, and when the other kids come in, just say that Mr. Abbott wanted to see how you guys can draw."
"Thanks!"
Julia says.
"That's so cool!"
Emily says. But we don't have a chance to get to because that's when the loudspeaker comes on and says:
"All students, please report to class."
Immediately, everyone in our class pours in.
"Well, class time now!"
Says Mr. Abbott. He hops down the stairs and back down to his desk.
"Everybody take a seat please."
He says. Everybody finds a seat somewhere in the room while he starts writing in the chalk board.
"Transportation!"
It says. When everybody quiets down, he starts speaking.
"Today class, you will learn how to move on something other then your legs. For yous that can control air, you will learn how to create a cloud. For yous that can control fire, you will learn to ride on a fire ball. For yous that can control water, a wave, and yous that control nature, a plant.
So first what you will have to do is clear your mind, like you learned in mental control class. At this, some people in the class snicker and say:
"OMMMMMM, TOTALLY...."
And others groan. But Mr. Abbott ignores this.
"Now, as I was saying"
He continues,
"You must clear your mind. When you have done this, you must focus. Concentrate. Concentrate and focus until you feel your feet being lifted off the ground. This takes time, so not many of you will succeed right away, because not only do you have to create what you are standing on, but you also have to keep it going. This generally takes a few days, so get started."
So I try to clear my mind. When thoughts of Hazel and Rachel come into my head, I push them away. When thoughts of Emily and Julia come, I push them away too. My eyes close without me even knowing, and all of a sudden, the only thing I can focus on is focusing. All of a sudden, I don't have to push away thoughts. They are gone. This is my chance. I imagine a small amount of mist rising up from the ground. It circles my feet, and then merges, and becomes a cloud. I open my eyes and look down, but I only see mist, not a cloud. I can see that I am not the only one having trouble, so is everyone else. Emily has vines wrapped around her feet, but not a plant. Everyone- almost everyone has some sort of thing floating around their feet, except Hazel. I hope that she's not a fake too. Hopefully she's just a slow learner. I remember I'm meant to be forming a cloud, and I look down and see that almost all the mist dissipated. But I bring it back in a few minutes. I close my eyes and imagine the cloud forming. I look down at my feet, and see that the mist is vaguely condensed. Just then, the loudspeaker comes won and says:
"All students, please go to your next classes!"
That completely breaks my concentration, and my "cloud"disappears. I guess that's good because everyone else is leaving, so I grab my mini white bag and head over to our next class, Elemental control. We walk across the hallway to room 346, our next classroom. Mrs. Paden is already in, and so we take our seats. But this time, Hazel and Rachel sit a few seats away from us. Wow, rude. After everyone is settled class begins.
"Hello all, and welcome. As you know, this is elemental powers class. Today you will learn how to make a ball of your element. Fire balls, water balls, chunks of rocks, wind balls. All you have to do is do focus, and it will come to you. If you need any help, just let me know. When you have succeeded doing this, please pair up and practice throwing them at each other. "
Emily and I automatically look at each other. We want to pair up. But first, I need to actually create a ball of wind. So I focus, like in transportation, and this time it comes quicker. I guess with practice, it's easier. After only 5 minutes, I have managed to hold an air ball in each hand. Mrs. Paden sees and tells me to pair up with somebody who is also done. At that moment, Emily manages to create a rock, so we decide to pair up. First, I throw my wind ball, and the moment it makes contact with her, it dissipates. I guess it's that "opposite element" thing Mrs. Paden was talking about. The same thing happens to her rock when it makes contact with me. By the time we have managed to throw our balls once or twice a minute, the period is over, and I find Emily, I walk over to our next class, music.
