Chapter 5 - SY University

2 weeks later…

“Kristin, ayoko ng iiyak ka pa ha?” si Mommy nagpapaalam, babalik na sila ng States ni Kuya para sa business.

Hindi na ako umiiyak, alam kong itong dalawang taong to yung hindi mang-iiwan sa akin.

Alam kong babalikan nila ako dito.

I smiled at them and waved ‘see you soon’. GOODBYE is the word I hate most.

First Day of school today.

First year college palang ako, pero dapat 2nd year na.

Well, 17 palang naman ako kaya okay lang yan.

I danced out my room then down the stairs.

“Hi Tita Sha, good morning!” bihis na ako for my first day tapos kumain, nagtoothbrush then nagpahatid papuntang SY University.

Yup, dyan ako mag-aaral.

And.........

Here I go.

Papasok na ako at nakita kong ang dami daming tao.

Studyante halos. Maluwang naman tong university e. Malinis at maganda.

Hinanap ko ang College of Business Courses, and there! I’m taking up Accountancy.

As I walk down the hallway, may mga naririnig akong nagbubulungan.

                “Who’s she?”

                “Another newbie?”

                “I heard she’s the daughter of Mrs. Cindy Montano and the late Mr. Matthew Montano.”

                “She must be rich kaya dito siya nag-aaral.”

Ako ba pinag-uusapan?

Well, I don’t care.

Tuloy-tuloy lang ako sa paglalakad.

Sabi sa schedule ko ang first subject ko daw ay..

College Algebra.

Blink. Blink.

WHAT?!!!!!!!

I hate that subject. Rrrrrr!

Pero tinignan ko yung room assignment at time.

8:30AM-10:00Am, Room 217.

At dahil medyo napaaga ako, at 8 o’clock palang, naglibot muna ako.

And there I saw a garden. Konti lang ang estudyante. Maganda may mini fountain sa gitna tapos Bermuda grass all around it. Naupo ako sa damo at nagmuni-muni.

I e-mailed my family. *smiles*

Hi sa inyong dalawa! Ganda ng school ko ngayon. Well, it’s my first day and I’m quite excited. I miss you both! Love ya.

After a while I received an e-mail from Mom.

   From:  Cindy Montano

 It’s nice to hear from you, Sweetie. Enjoy your first day. Wag mong susungitan mga classmates mo specially your professors. Okay? Mom misses you more. Kuya is out, driving his new car. I love you Baby. Be safe.

   To: Cindy Montano

 What?! Kuya has a new car? Wow. Happy for him. I gotta go to my class. Skype later Mom! Mwahugs.

Tinago ko na mga gamit ko at umakyat sa Room 217.

Madaming tao sa hallway, I wonder?

The uniform looks good. White, long-sleeved blouse with laces on the center, plus a blue-black skirt with matching blue-black tie.

Here it is.

I knocked on the door, and saw my classmates,

I think,

chatting around with one another.

As I enter the back door, they went quiet.

Hindi ko sila tinignan, umupo ako sa vacant seat sa may 4th row, sitting next to…

TJ’s girlfriend.
