"I'm going to go to the hospital." Violet ushered out, standing up and shoving her feet into the first pay of shoes she could find.

"I'm coming too." Calum declared, standing up too.

Violet bitterly laughed. "Oh, hell no you're not. Luke can't stand you. You're not going anywhere near him, especially not at a time like this."

"Excuse me, but he's my best friend." Calum defended.

"Was your best friend." Violet corrected. "Go home, Calum. I'll text you later."

Violet quickly grabbed her handbag, stuffing her phone, wallet, keys and other needs in it. Doing a quick mental check to make sure she had everything, and then bolted out her bedroom door.

"But - Violet!"

"You're not coming." She snapped, rushing down the stairs.

She heard Calum's footsteps firmly follow. "Okay, fine, but atleast let me drive you there. You can't walk all the way, there was an ice storm earlier."

Violet slowed down her steps and carefully spun back to face Calum. "I haven't ridden a moving vehicle in five years. And my first time doing so was on me and Luke's last date. I can't believe I did drive with him then too. And I'm not ready to get in a car with anyone else-"

"Oh." Calum realised. "I'm sorry."

Violet shook her head, pulling her hair behind her ear. "I really gotta get going. I'll see you later, Calum."

And with that, she rushed out the door and tried getting to the hospital as fast as she could on foot. It wasn't that far.

"Mum, what do I do?" Luke whimpered into the phone.

"Shh, baby. It's okay, mama's here. I love you, okay? I'm gonna get you back home." Liz said through the phone.

That only made Luke cry harder.

"But I love it here! Just move here, Toronto's fine for us!" Luke pleaded.

"Luke...this is your home. You...you're gonna have to break up with this Violet girl." Liz said sadly.

"What?" Luke gasped. "No. No, no, no, no. You said I only had to go back home for a couple months then I could come back!"

"That was when you had an aunt there. She just died, Luke. You don't have anyone there." Liz choked.

"Stop reminding me she died!" Luke yelled through his tears. "I get it! She died! I get that my only fucking aunt died! You don't think I'm upset about that?! I still loved her! The amount of drugs or guys she had over didn't change the fact that she was my Aunt Beth!"
