Abby's POV
10 Years Later
I can't believe that I'm at my wedding dinner. It seems so crazy to me that after all this time John and I are finally getting married. He had proposed to me on a visit back home, but we decided to wait until after college to actually get married.
The ceremony was held in the Meyers' yard, and John's family filled up practically the whole yard. We've moved into the extremely cleaned out barn for the reception. His family packed this place up, this many people made nonstop commotion, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
I look over at John and am once again surprised by how lucky I am. It's obviously breathtaking. John notices I'm staring at him and leans over and kisses me before saying, "I love you, Mrs. Abby Mae Meyers."
"I love you too, Mr. John Daniel Meyers." I kiss him once again, but were interrupted with the tapping of a microphone.
"Hello everybody. If you don't know us, we happen to be the brothers of the groom." Marcus and Jarrett are standing on the makeshift 'dance floor'. "I don't know if they remember this, but right before they first started dating, they were having a 'best-friend day' as they liked to call it, us normal people just call them dates." Everyone that knew us laughed at that, and John laughed at me because my face was bright red. "Well, on this particular day, they attempted to have their first kiss, but Jarrett here fell out of a barrel," Marcus said, patting Jarrett on the back. I busted out laughing recalling what happened. I was so embarrassed that they saw us. "But it just so happened that this little dude and I had a plan, and we are going to show you the end result of this plan finally. 26 years in the making, kinda," Marcus finished and handed the microphone over to Jarrett. I was very confused at this point.
"Congrats you two. I knew you guys would make it here. This video is just a little way of showing our appreciation to the both of you, we love you."
As soon as he was done talking, a video started playing. It started off with pictures of us when we were babies. In this video you could see us growing up. There was pictures of sports that we were in together, or games we showed up to support each other at, there was the preschool pictures, our first day of actual school together, and the time John dumped us off his bike and we got matching broken arms. Then came the middle school dance and the horse rides, our first day of high school, and the video of our almost first kiss. The video of us trying to tell the Meyers that we were finally dating. There was also graduation, our first day of college, and his proposal and days in between that. The video ended with videos of John and I saying I do, and our first kiss as a married couple.
By the end of the video I was bawling. I looked over at John and he even had a few tears in his eyes. Soon, everybody was clicking their glasses, I laughed and leaned over to kiss John, thinking about how wonderful it was to grow up with him, and be on this wild adventure with him.
Next, Josh stood up and grabbed the microphone. "Well I definitely cannot compare to that, but I can try. I have known these two since birth. At least I'm pretty sure because there's not a time when I don't remember John bossing me around or Abby trying to fix everything that went wrong. To be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way either. But anyways, watching these two, they have shown me what true love looks like, what being a best friend means, and what supporting and being there for your friends is like. They both were there for me when I had my first heartbreak over Sandy Zook in the first grade and they were there to tell me to stop being so stupid and realize what I could have with my wife Jade. We've gotten into some trouble in our days, and I can't wait to get into more with you guys. I love you both, and I don't need to wish you guys luck because you won't need it." John and I both stood up and ran to Josh to give him a huge hug. He was so sweet. But before I could even blink Jade, who was the maid of honor, (Which was funny because Josh was the best man) took the mic.
"When I agreed to speaking last I did not think I was gonna have such big competition," everyone laughed at that. "Now, our group sure did get in a lot of trouble in our high school days, from all the times we played truth or dare, or like that one time we thought skinny dipping at LongBeach would be real fun, or when John thought Abby was mad at him so he sulked for days, and then it turned out that she got dared to not talk to him for two days. Anyways, we've had some fun times, but throughout all of these, you two always showed the love you had for each other. You guys have showed everyone what true love looks like, and everyone thinks you guys are the cutest couple, but I beg to differ, I think Josh and I are pretty dang cute," She laughs, winking at me. "But in all seriousness, you guys deserve the best, thanks for sticking by our side, and we'll be sure to have kids at the same time so that they can get married one day too." Soon, Josh, Jade, Brinley, Creo, Cole, John, and I are all in a big group hugging. Without them I'm pretty sure I would have gone crazy by now. Even if they do drive me crazy sometimes.
Once all the speeches were done John and I went to go and find Marcus and Jarrett.
"Well isn't it the lovely newly weds!" Marcus says as him and Jarrett hug us.
"We cannot thank you guys enough for that video, it was amazing," I hug them again.
"Yeah, it was amazing," John says with a cute confused look on his face. "You know, I completely forgot about when you guys messed up my first chance at kissing Abby." Then he smacks the back of their heads. "But besides that part, thanks!" We all laugh.
As I cuddle into John's side as we're talking to our family and friends I can't help but realize how clueless I was before. I never really appreciated the amazing friends and family that I have. I was clueless to how lucky I really was when it come to John. John leans down and kisses me, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"You know, today has been the best day of my life, but I'm even more excited for tonight. You are all mine, baby girl, all mine." I blush at the thought of what tonight is going to be like and I smile as I kiss John deeply.
"I can't wait."
