Elliot POV
Running my hand through my hair I finally finished the last of the papers. Placing the final one on a large stack I leaned back in my chair and cracked my neck. "Chris!" I called out for my Beta.
He rushed in staring at the stack of paper near me impressed, "Can't believe you finished all of this. This is almost a weeks' worth of work."
Sighing I looked at the clock. Shit we were late. I was too caught up on the paper I didn't notice that nearly 5 hours had gone by. "Do you think the summit started already?" I asked my Beta, I rolled my shoulders hearing a satisfying pop from each arm.
Looking at the clock Chris hissed loudly, "Probably, we can make it if we rush everything though."
"Get the pack ready. I'm going to go first with Evan; the other alphas are probably pissed at me. I'm always late for the meetings."
Understanding my orders Chris walked out of my office. I mind linked myself to Evan, my third in command. 'Evan, are you busy?'
He answered me quickly, 'No, I'm just with the other guys, what's up?'
'I need you to go with me to the summit, we're running late and I need to hurry the rest of the pack will catch up with Chris.'
I could mentally see him nodding; 'I'll be at your house in a few minutes.'
Disconnecting the link I walked down the stairs and grabbed my shoes. The moment I got out Evan's dark brown wolf came bounding forward, respectfully bowing his head to me once he stopped. Taking off my clothes quickly I shifted into my wolf, a brawny silver one, and together we headed to the unclaimed land. It didn't take long, maybe an hour or so.
By the time I got there and had changed into my clothes the party was just about starting, dismissing Evan I walked into the cabin and was welcomed with the familiar gaze of Alpha Jonathan of the Shadow Bane pack and his Beta Michael, Alpha Jake of Lune Bay pack and his Beta Andrew, Alpha Clayton of Red Grove Pack and his Beta Kurt, and finally Alpha Allan of Mist Vine Pack and his Beta Nelson. All the packs that made up the Great Five Packs.
Alpha Allan was pretty much the only person in the room that was about my age, slightly older, we were pretty close, the moment he saw me he made a 'tsk' sound and gave me a small smile.
"Did I make it in time?" I asked as I walked to my seat at the large round table.
Jonathan, who was the oldest, chuckled and took a seat as well, "Surprisingly Elliot you are just a tad bit late. Let's start the meeting since we're all here."
Throughout the entire meeting we had the same topic we always had, rogues. It lagged on for about 2 hours, Chris came in halfway through the meeting. While the other Alpha's raged and complained about the rogues not respecting the pack's territory Allan and I drifted off into sleep.
When the meeting finally finished I was the first to get out, the room had been so hot from all the talking that I was suffocating just being in there, my wolf didn't like the heat either. The cool breeze greeted us as I stepped out of the cabin, I felt someone clamp my shoulder, "So what made you late?" Allan asked he flicked his head to get some stray strawberry blonde hair off his face.
Smirking I slapped his back, "Paper work."
"Fun," he patted me shoulder before he walked to the BBQ. A few moments later the other Alpha's walked out joining their pack members at the party.
I turned to go tell Chris to gather the pack so we could leave, but a sweet smell caused me to stop in my tracks. Chris stared at me slightly confused, "Elliot, what's wrong?"
"D-do you smell that?" I stuttered. My wolf was howling begging me to go find where the smell was coming from, it was faintly familiar.
Mine. Mate. MINE. My wolf chanted in me, I felt him trying to take over my body and for once I didn't fight it. I wanted to find my mate. I wanted her even though I didn't know who she was. I needed her.
"Eh, Elliot you want me to get everyone so we can leave?"
"NO!" I snarled at him, he stepped back looking concerned.
Turning around I lifted my head to take in a better take of the smell, it was the best scent in the world, a light lavender like smell, and it was driving me crazy. Pushing some people aside I walked into the large group of people, the scent was very light in some places and very heavy in others, but either way it was perfect.
Letting my wolf take over it sniffed out the source in only a few seconds, it was her! The skinny girl that had long black hair that hung to her mid back, I could almost feel the soft strands of hair going through my fingers. I wanted her so bad, but just staring at her was enough for me. She bended down to reach a soda can and for a moment my wolf growled, he hated seeing his mate wearing such reveling outfit, ignoring him I turned my attention back to her. She shook the water off her small hands and turned to leave. Don't go! I thought.
Before I realized I had rushed over and grabbed her hand. The moment I touched her I felt like the happiest guy in the world. My wolf was ecstatic; he was barking and yowling inside wanting to be out so he could personally meet our mate. My fingers tingled as if an electric shock was going through my body, and for some reason I knew she was feeling it too.
Pulling her closer to me I bent down and took in her scent, something about it was so familiar, but it didn't matter. I had her in my embrace. Nuzzling my face into her neck I enjoyed the way her skin seemed to shiver at my touch. "You?"
"W-who are you? What are you doing?" she asked scared. She took a step away from me and landed in the cooler behind her. She gasped and stood up quickly splashing water at the people around her. Some guy complained, but I ignored him. Whatever he said wasn't important. I just wanted her back in my arms.
Wrapping my arms around her skinny waist I enjoyed her scent and the feeling of having her safely in my arms. I snapped my eyes open when I felt her missing from me, a brawny guy stood between her and me, before I could tell what was happening he threw a punch down on the side of my face. Falling I turned my head to glare at him. He was in the way of me and my mate.
I tasted blood entering my mouth; he had cut my lips from that blow. Impressive. Growling I felt my wolf talking for both of us, "Mine".
