Chapter 12
It took me a moment to understand what was going on, and when I did, it took all my willpower to get myself off of Elliot. My wolf, however, wanted to remain as close to him as possible.
His eyes darkened for a second and then his face. Without giving me a second to steady myself, he grabbed onto my arm and pulled me close again.
"Why are you here?" he demanded. "Don't you know how dangerous it is right now?"
"What?" My face contorted in confusion before anger, "Can you give me a minute to stand up?" I snapped.
"Why are you here?" he asked again, this time with less anger.
I huffed and looked over in the direction the group was heading, "Aren't they going to notice that we're both not there?"
"No, I have Chris keeping Aishling busy, and I noticed your friend was talking with another girl. It was a perfect opportunity to come and talk." Elliot responded quickly. "Now, tell me; why are you here?"
"I got shoved into you?" I raised a brow.
Elliot rolled his eyes at my remark and released his hold. "That's not what I meant."
I rubbed my arms. "I know,"
"Then give me an answer!" Elliot pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.
"I'm here with my pack to escort my Alpha's daughter - your fiancé- into your territory." I said as if I was reciting from a board.
"You're a Lune Bay?" he exclaimed as if it was the biggest shocker of the century.
I couldn't help but just stare at him. It would seem that that was the stupidest question asked. "Nooo, I'm from Shadow Bane, I just managed to squeeze myself into this escort group of a bunch of Lune Bay wolves, " I replied sarcastically. "What do you think?"
"Why didn't you tell me?" his voice faltered for a moment.
"It wasn't really one of the main conversation topics we hit when we met back at the Summit."
Elliot remained silent. His eyes focusing intently on me. I squirmed for a moment before looking at the bandages wrapped around him. "What happened?"
As if broken from a trance, he shook his head and glanced down. "I don't know, why don't you explain for me?" He growled angrily.
"What are you talking about?" I crossed my arms. That was it! He had finally lost it!
Leaning in close, he tilted his head to show the side of his neck. It felt weird being so close. After a few pokes from him, I managed to peer over at his neck. "Scars?" I pulled back. They were faint, and barely noticeable. Probably by the end of the day they would disappear completely.
"Scaaars," he mimicked my tone and drew out the 'A's' in the word.
"Scars? They're just regular old scars. "
"Think harder." His voice was low and smooth.
I took a moment. Why was he showing me his old scars? The scars couldn't have been more than a day or so old. Suddenly gasping, my hand rose up to my own neck, "Scars!"
He scoffed, "Care to explain?"
My face flushed pale, "Explain why you also have it?"
Elliot rolled his eyes, "It's a sort of mechanism that Alpha wolf's have when their mate is in trouble. Whatever injury they sustain, the other mate will receive it so they'll know how much danger their pair is in. Only thing is, this trait is only supposed to happen after we fully mate, but something happened and I guess we just got it earlier."
