Originally this was the Cora book, but I wanted to try changing it up. But in the end I wanted to go with my original idea. This was on my old account, but it somehow got deleted, and I just now decided to put it back up juust for the heck of it. I'm really sorry I didn't tell all you readers about it, it just came into my mind when I was deleting all this junk on my laptop, and I saw the story I had saved. But here you go! :)

Prologue

Cora's POV (11 years old)

Running away from the large crowd of kids laughing behind me I felt warm tears threatening to fall already. Stupid Aishling. Why did she have to make fun of my hair clip that my mom had spent all night making for me? Ripping it out of my black hair I clutched it in my hand and made myself run faster. Nearly tripping on the hard concrete I staggered to my feet and rushed into the back porch.

Wiping the tears off and shaking the dirt stains I had from being pushed down, I breathed deeply and opened the white door. Placing my muddy shoe on the floor next to the kitchen counter I made myself to my parent's bedroom. Quietly opening the door I stared at my frail mom sitting up on the bed with the thick blanket over her petite body, she sat there quietly sewing a new hair clip for me. Since she had a certain medical condition she was sick most of the time and she spent most of her days in her room, entertaining herself with making me hairpins. "Mommy?" I called out to her.

She lifted her pretty face and smiled at me. Her pale face looked a lot better than usual and today she had the window open to let in the cool breeze. "Cora, what is it?" she asked placing the needle and laces on the nightstand next to her.

Rushing to her I hugged her bony body, "Cora you're covered with dirt! And your eyes are puffy? What happened?" she demanded, gently pushing me back to stare at my clothes.

Smiling I forced my voice to sound cheerful, "When I was playing with the other kids I fell got some dirt in my eyes. I'm fine though."

Giving me a face she slowly slid out of bed. Sighing she stumbled slightly to the door, "Let's get you cleaned up."

"No mom it's fine, I'll go wash up by myself." I argued, trying to tug her back in the bed where she belonged.

"Rachel? Why are you up?" a deep voice demanded. My dad walked into the room, concern written all over his face. "Go lay back down Rachel, if you move too much it'll be too much for your body and your wolf."

Scoffing my mom pushed my dad away when he tried to help her back to the bed, "I'm fine, honestly Jacob, walking around will do me and my wolf more good than sitting in a bed."

Dad's eyes soften when he looked at her. Taking her small hand he supported her weight in only one of his arm. "Where do you want to go?"

"I need to clean Cora up. She just came back from playing with the other kids." Mom looked at me and smiled, her eyes twinkling. "I can see you in her. Her eyes, they're like yours, strong."

Dad chuckled and pulled me to him; hugging his waist I felt mom's warm hands on my rough hair, "I see more of you in her." Looking up I stared at my parents. They looked so happy; I couldn't help but smile back, "She has your smile and your pretty little face." Leaning down he blew raspberries on my cheek. Giggling I pulled back. "Alright let's get you cleaned up." All together we headed for the bathroom.

"Wow it's the Runt. Can't believe she gets to go to the summit this year." I heard the other kids complain as they saw me walk along side my dad with the rest of the pack. Our pack, the Lune Bay, was headed to the summit for this year's meeting and barbeque. Since my mom was too tired to look after me, my dad got Uncle Jake, the alpha, to let me go to the summit with the other pack members. When we reached the edge of the town we watched pack members stare at us before we finally prepared to leave.
