Alabaster and I ran through the forest, hearing Woody howl in front of us.
Suddenly Alabaster tripped. "Come on, Al!" I shouted, pulling him to his feet. He carried on running, but he was limping.
Twenty yards to go.
Nineteen
Eighteen.
Seventeen.They were catching up.
Sixteen.
Fifteen. We passed the pine tree that had been split in two due to lightning a few years earlier.
Twelve.
Eleven.
Ten.Woody shot out of the trees on my right, and was swallowed up by the ones on the right.
Nine.
Eight.I could hear him howl in the distance, and knew that he was buying us some more time.
Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
One.Alabaster and I veered off suddenly, jumping off the steep slope, narrowly avoiding the rocks that concealed the entrance to our secret cave. We quickly climbed back up a bit of the slope, and crawled through the small tunnel behind the rocks, into the cave.
We waited, until a familiar wolf padded in through the entrance. He morphed into a boy, Alabaster's age, with curly black hair, and one white curl hanging over his left eye. He grinned at us, and swiped it out of the way."Did they follow you?" my brother asked the wolven.
"No, let's just say they're severely lost in these woods. Anyone see which half-bloods they were?"
"I didn't exactly have time to recognise them." I said.
Woody lent against the wall of the cave, and half closed his yellow eyes, staring into the darkness.
"Well, may as well rest." Alabaster said. "Henry, some light in here please?"
I pulled out my wand, muttered lumos, and held it up so Al could see into his bag. He pulled out some blankets, and threw one at each of us. He then looked through my bag, and sorted out some food for the evening.
"Sorry, Woody. You're going to have to slum it with cooked ham rather than raw meat." he smiled.
Woody sat up, and took a sandwich. "Tomorrow, maybe?" he asked hopefully. Times like this made it easy to remember that he was still a wolf inside, even when he looked human.

The next morning, Alabaster and I were woken early when Woody, in wolf form, carried a couple of rabbits into the cave.
Alabaster skinned one, while I built a fire just down the hill, and we quickly cooked it, while Woody tore happily at the other one.
Alabaster and I ate our rabbit, stamped out the fire, and then we were on the move again, leaving the forest behind us, and wandering through open land. So that people wouldn't notice that we were travelling with no ordinary 'dog', Woody had to change again."Woody? You have a speck of rabbit blood, just... there" I pointed out to him.
"Thanks." he said, and we walked through a small area of housing, before being back in the open country.
Unfortunately, in our path, stood a monster. I didn't know what it was called- I had better things to do than swot up on the types of monsters. (Better things including staying alive, and handing in potions homework on time.)
Alabaster pulled out his sword, and so did I, but I also held my wand. Woody sighed, and morphed again.
We defeated it easily- it was obviously one of the more stupid monsters- and, after checking everyone was ok, we were back on our way.
Already, we had been through three different states, and been chased numerous times, but we weren't giving up. We would never turn ourselves in to the half-bloods from the Camp. We were alive, we were fighting and running, and we were together.
Just the three of us against the rest of the world.Finis
