Chapter Five

*Phone ringing*

Caylen groans, annoyed from being woke up so early in the morning by the telephone. She slides out of bed, unaware that I'm awake, and shuffles into the living room. She wraps her arms around her mid section and clutches at her tank on either side. I give her an unseen confused look, wondering why she's doing this. 

She picks up the phone and says hello to whoever is on the other end. "Oh hey guys," she replies, her voice cheering up when she hears who it is. 

I prop myself up off of my pillow and somehow coax myself out of bed at five in the morning. Once I'm in the living room, Caylen turns to me and mouths it's the guys on the phone. I give her a surprised look and she responds with a roll of her blue eyes. 

She puts the guys on speaker and says, "Hey guys, Sadie just woke up. Fill her in on what y'all were just saying." 

"Morning Sadie!" Liam's voice comes over the phone and I instantly find a smile forming across my face. 

"Morning, Li," I say in a sleepy voice. 

"Sorry we woke you so early," Ash states, "But this is big. I got an invite yesterday, the one I told you about Cay?" 

"Yeah, the one to the music fest in Spain. What about it?" 

He continues, "Well, last night before we went to the bar, I had to call the rest of the band, and everyone but Cal couldn't make the trip. So we were out of a band." 

"Until now!!!" Harry and Liam cheer in unison.

Caylen and I look at each other confused and I ask, "What do you mean?" 

"Girls, it's simple. Me, Liam, Ashton, and Calum are the new band," Harry says in his slow English voice. 

Caylen's eyes widen and she spits, "So all of y'all are leaving?" She starts to walk away from the phone and it's obvious she's upset. 

"Cay, baby," Ashton says over the phone in a soothing voice, "Just open the door and we'll talk about everything." 

Her eyes narrow and she shoots them at the phone. I'm sure she's mentally shooting them at Ashton. 

"What do you-" she starts to ask, but is cut off by a knock at the door. 

I walk over to open it and find the boys on the other side. Caylen and I give them all surprised and pissed off looks. Here we are standing in our pajamas and with our nasty bedheads and the guys are looking great as always. 

Ashton hangs up his cell and smiles as he slides past me and into my apartment, followed by the rest of the new band. I step back and allow them to come in more easily. They all are cheerful and look as if it's noon and Caylen and I have just slept in late. 

I shake my head in disbelief at the guys, close the door, then join them on the couches. I slip in beside Liam, who puts his arm around me and allows for me to lay up against him. I close my eyes thinking now would be the perfect time to go back to sleep, but my wishes are interrupted by Caylen. 

"Okay so what's going on? You weren't going to talk to us about this first?" she spits out at the guys. It's obvious that Caylen and Ashton have been together for a while and she's used to being kept in the loop with the boys. 

Harry stands up and interjects, keeping Caylen and Ashton from getting into what could become a fight. "Caylen, we wanted to surprise y'all. Madi didn't even know until this morning and she was ecstatic about it!" 

Caylen's eyes widen. "Ecstatic about everyone leaving?" Her voice is laced with her frustration, and she puts her hand on her hips, channeling some of her American sass.
