Cypress (A RWBY fan fic)

Chapter 13: Realization.

Cypress couldn't believe Ash actually told her he loves her. She sat there probably looking like a complete idiot once she was trying so hard to stay calm. She cleared her throat and looked at Ash "so... does that mean we are a thing now?" He chuckled to himself "yeah." Cypress smiled happily at Ash who couldn't help but smile back at Cypress's smile. Shade suddenly walked up with Platinum at her side "Hey so once you guys are finally a thing do you guys want to go get a movie to watch  or something together?" At Shade's sudden suggestion Cypress laughed "what does watching a movie have to do with us finally dating?" Shade's shrugged with a giggle "double date?". Ash looked at Platinum "Well we all haven't really hung out that much together even though we are a team... it would be nice to do a little more team bonding." Ash stated and Platinum nodded. Shade jumped and clapped her hands together "Great it's a plan! We will go get a movie!!" She said grabbing Platinum by the wrist and running out of the room towards the town causing Cypress and Ash to sit there awkwardly. "So did you turn Velvet down or something then?" Cypress couldn't help but ask with her head down. Ash picked her chin up with a blush "Uh.. no actually she was helping me..." Cypress looked at him confused. "I was trying to think of a way to tell you how I felt about you so I asked Velvet knowing she'd be calm and collective about it." He said looking back at Cypress. "Oh, But then why would y..." Cypress began to ask when Stormy bursts in "Ozpin wants you NOW!" Stormy said grabbing Cypress's arm causing Cypress to look at Ash worriedly. Ash gave her a reassuring smile before the door was slammed and Ash was now sitting there alone on the corner of the bed able to take some time and think. "Stormy what is going on?" Cypress said matching Stormy's pace so she wasn't being dragged. "I don't know he just told me to come get you" She said shrugging causing Cypress to roll her eyes. "So you don't even know if it's that urgent." Stormy nodded. "yup sorry." When they got to Ozpin's door Stormy stopped to wait for Cypress as she went in "You needed me sir?" Ozpin spun around in his chair so he was facing his desk. "Yes Cypress, it has come to my attention that it seems some of your fellow colleagues and students have voted you as most determined leader, therefore we would like to award you this. *pushes a small box across his desk to her* "please wait till you are back in your room to open it. " He said with a smile "Oh, sorry about Stormy she got most energetic right before you and so that's why she rushed you. But if you don't mind could you send Ruby here please?" Ozpin asked and Cypress nodded as she grabbed the box and headed to the door. "Ozpin?" She stopped to ask. "Yes?" She paused "Why is this leader ceremony thing not public to the rest of the school?" Cypress asked curiously. "It usually is but we have been having a lot of problems with teams lately due to the fact we think we have spies working for the white fang. " Ozpin answered and Cypress nodded "oh, your worried that the white fang spies would make students to become jealous to try to split everyone apart." Ozpin nodded and Cypress continued heading to the door. When she came out Stormy was smiling hugely as Cypress smiled back rolling her eyes. After talking to Stormy on her way back to the room she stopped by Ruby's room telling her that Ozpin wanted to see her and finally got back to her room. When Cypress walked in she saw that Shade and Platinum already came back and that everything was set up. Cypress laughed and shook her head sitting between Shade and Ash. She looked down at the little box and opened it inside were two Silver ribbons connected by a metal cypress flower badge with a blue Dust crystal handing off of each ribbon she smiled and attached it to her belt "Just like my brothers but blue" she said taking out her brothers brown ribbons with green dust crystals and hanging them next to hers on her belt as Ash put a hand on her shoulder. "Your brother would be proud." He commented causing Cypress to smile as Shade started the movie. Near the end of the movie someone was shouting right outside the door making Shade pause the movie. "How is that fair Stormy a leader pin when it was her boyfriend who deserved it? If anyone deserved it would be Cypress because it was her brother!" Cypress heard Ace yell and immediately opening the door and stepping into the hallway. "How did Stormy even become leader why does she get to decide this?" Eclipse asked as Ace chimed in "It's because she was Jason's girlfriend!" Cypress heard enough. "ECLIPSE! ACE! What is going on?!" Ace "Oh good Cypress is here gosh Stormy let me tell her what you did!" Stormy "She knows I got the crystal!" Eclipse "but did you tell her about replacement Jason?!?!" Cypress looked over at Stormy shocked not knowing if she should believe Ace or Eclipse. Ash came out hoping to help. "Ash this is the rest of my brothers team Ace and Eclipse." Ace "See Stormy Cypress wears her brother's first Crystals with honor she deserves the second ones too!" Cypress "Ace that is enough Ozpin gave those to Stormy for a reason!" Eclipse "No he gave those to her because after your brother died she happily took over your brother's team and replace him with James without consulting us over who should be team leader!"  Cypress "wait what?!?" As more students began to show up Cypress's team came out to block the hall off as Ozpin came down. " Stormy, Ace, Eclipse, and Cypress come down to my office NOW!" Ozpin said madly for how big of a scene Ace and Eclipse caused. After Ace and Eclipse explained what happened, Ozpin told Stormy to give up the leader pin and gave it to Cypress. Ozpin looked at Cypress "Now that I know all this Cypress this should've been yours the whole time for your brother was the one meant to have this pin." when Cypress realized it was exactly like the green and brown one of her brother's as it was meant to be an addition for the crystals were a little bigger then the first ones. "But how did you not know Ozpin I thought you decide the leaders?" Cypress asked confused. "I left it up to them to decide who the new leader should be and later Stormy told me that they all agreed she could be the new team leader." Ozpin said as Stormy looked down ashamed. "Who's James?" Cypress asked looking at Ash and Eclipse for the answer. "Like I said he's Jason's replacement she asked Ozpin to add him to the team. He's her boyfriend and they started dating a couple days after Jason's death." Eclipse said giving Stormy the death glare. "Stormy how could you.. *pause* Did you even care about Jason or his death?!" Cypress began to yell as tears formed in her eyes. "come on C you kno-" Stormy began but Cypress interrupted "NO I don't want to hear it." Cypress said running out the door running past Ash who began to run after her as well as Ace and Eclipse.
