Chapter 12: Is It Love or A Lie?

When Cypress arrived at the temple she dragged her fingers on the pillars her hair swaying in the the breeze. It was a beautiful afternoon, calm, quiet, and peaceful. she found one of the chipped pillars that she could climb she climbed up to where she could see the edge of the forest when she heard something by a tree a couple of feet away. Cypress took out her swords and jumped down hearing talking "I know we just met a couple of months ago but I fell in love with you so will you be my boyfriend?" Cypress heard a familiar voice ask as she put her swords down and peaked around the trees. There stood Velvet and Ash, Ash looking down at velvet with a smile. Cypress on the break of tears, took a step back as Ash saw her shadow and looked up. Cypress took off into the emerald forest into the deeper parts as she heard Ash calling from not to far behind "Cypress please wait let me explain!" As she ran she grabbed a low hanging branch and swung herself onto it now running in the trees changing her direction and soon loosing Ash. She sat there quietly tears in her eyes thinking to herself. It has been a while with about 42 calls from Ash, 6 calls from Platinum, 9 calls from Shade, and dozens of calls from Stormy, Cypress sat there quietly when she head a voice at the bottom of the tree. "Hey there C." She heard a disgustingly recognizable voice say. She looked at the base of the tree and there stood Mercury. "What do you want" she said not wanting to deal with him. "Can't I come to a damsel in distress's aid?" Cypress jumped down ticked off "1. Not in distress, 2. Not a damsel, and 3. I can fend for myself." He chuckled "Can you now? Because last time I checked you are trapped in a huge ring of burning fire with no escape. So have fun." He said climbing a tree and jumping to a latter from a helicopter that came out of no where. It all became clear the flames around her the smoke in the air the ashes everywhere, she was to caught up about Ash to realize she was being trapped. She immediately went for her scroll calling Stormy. With no answer she then called Platinum and then Shade still no answer. Beginning to cough with blurred vision she had one last chance calling Ash he answered "Cypress I am soooo sorry please let me ex..." Cypress interrupts "where are you?" He paused "In the room with the team, Is everything okay?" He said hearing wood crackling in the background. There was a few minutes of silence causing Ash to start worrying "Cypress what's wrong? Where are you???" He said starting to grab his gear. "look out the window." she quietly said Ash barely hearing her but doing as she said. Seeing black smoke he tries to find where its coming from seeing a ring of fire in the forest. "Cypress stay on the phone with me I'm on my way!" He said bolting out the door. ~No response~ "Cypress?!?!" He called out into the phone the team now following quite a ways behind him. Cypress didn't respond she couldn't as she fell to the ground. The fire inches from her almost lifeless body. When Ash got to the fire the smoke was to thick to go from above along the tree line. "Get a response team out here to take control of the fire I have to go through and find Cypress." Ash said seeing a possibly small entrance into the ring. His team nodded taking out their scrolls. Ash ran into the fire seeing cypress on the ground covered in ash the hair on her ears fringed. Ash ran up to her and picked her up her skin burning hot "Cypress! Please be okay" She opened her eyes slowly and looked up at him pain in her eyes he couldn't tell weather from him or the fire. He grabbed her scroll and ran back the way he came jumping, ducking and dodging over new obstacles. When he got out of the ring of fire he saw his team helping the first responders put out the fire, seeing him they ran to both his and Cypress's aid. "It was Mercury.." she coughed out "He knew I wasn't *pause* watching my surroundings and *pause* trapped me." each pause she tried to catch her breath. "We will worry about him later are you okay?!?" Ash said worriedly. She nodded "I will be when I catch my breath and take an ice cold shower." "Listen Cypress.." Cypress cut him off again "can we talk about this later I just want to go back to the room" he looked at her and nodded a yes lowering his head. When they got back Cypress got all cleaned up and sat on her bed drying her hair in her pajamas. "Cypress?" Ash asked sitting on the edge of her bed. She looked his way signaling for him to continue. "I don't like Vel.. I was just... *he sighs* I love you." She gave him a small smile keeping her joy at a minimal. "I love you too."
