CHAPTER 13 (EDITED)

WE PULLED UP in the hotel's car park and none of us said anything as Ethan handed off his car to the valet. The whole car ride had been uncharacteristically quiet and that made me extremely uneasy. I was so used to talking to the both of them non stop. Sure, the scene with Ethan and I was a little awkward but I didn't know what was going through Taylor's head. I knew it was more between them than me.

"Charlotte!" A familiar voice called out as we entered the lobby. The three of us turned around simultaneously, which made it seem like a scene straight out of a movie.

Hugo came jogging up to us. Unfortunately for me, he was dressed in a white shirt and light jeans that fit him very well. Not wanting to be caught ogling him again, I looked up and waited for him to come over.

He stopped in front of me and gave me a small smile before looking at the two guys standing next to me, weirdly. They definitely fulfilled the criteria of being my bodyguards now with the way they were standing on either side of me.

"What's up?" I asked him. He probably didn't want to cure my loneliness anymore, I thought.

"Nothing. You didn't reply to my text." He said, and I turned to mush because of his accent.

"I'm pretty sure I did, Mr Boss." I teased and his mouth curved downwards at the nickname but I knew he secretly enjoyed it.

"Not my second one, doll." He said and I saw Ethan's head snap in his direction in my peripheral vision. He was giving some oddly scary glares towards Hugo and I had to nudge him lightly to get him to stop.

"I must have missed it. Did you need anything?" I hadn't checked my phone for a while so I probably hadn't seen his reply to my text.

"Yeah! There's this party my friend was invited to somewhere in town and I would like the pleasure of having you as my plus one!" He said and shot me a pleading smile.

He was seriously boyishly adorable. Maybe too adorable for me since I had outgrown that.

"I would love to but I can't. It's my best friend's wedding and I have a million things to do. I'm sorry, you have fun, though." I felt bad once I saw his expression fall but we basically had a party last night and that was more than enough for me. At least for a couple of days.

"Aw, come on. Please!" He said and I heard Taylor clear his throat beside me. I had forgotten they were there for a minute.

"She said no, man. Leave it." Ethan said and scoffed.

"Yea, you go have fun!" Taylor added, mimicking my words.

Hugo looked at them both and stood up taller, his testosterone kicking in. I stifled a sigh at that.

"And, who are you guys?"

"Her boyfriend." They both said in unison.

Did they practice this stuff beforehand?

I felt the anger bubbling inside me. They were doing my head in with this whole who's the better man thing they had going. I was close to slapping the two in their faces.

"Both of you?" Hugo asked, skeptically.

They were creating a horrible impression of me and I wanted nothing more than for them to leave so I could politely ignore my way out of Hugo's invitation.

"No." They said and I really had to resist the urge to scream.

"What the hell is wrong with you two? Are you fucking insane?" I whisper yelled to them, trying my best to not raise my voice since that would ruin the ambience of the hotel. And, I'd be damned if I was the reason that happened.
