Aria's POV

"No."

"Yes Aria! You're going to school whether you like it or not. I'm not having this discussion with you." Derek argued.

"Okay, let's not have the discussion. But I'm not going to school!" I retorted.

"Look, if it was up to me then fine. But you can get me arrested Ria." Derek told me, watching the road.

The car sped past the sign that welcomed us back. Back into Beacon Hills. We haven't been here in six years, not since our family died.

"Are you sure she's here?" I asked breaking the silence.

Derek nodded. "I can already trace her scent. But something seems off." He admitted.

"Off how?"

"I don't know yet." Derek replied, focusing. I sighed and slid down my seat. Derek thinks that Laura, our sister, is back in Beacon Hills since an Alpha is supposed to be running around. Much to Derek's displeasure.

I guess I should probably explain.

My family have a genetic... Mutation you could call it. Some of us Hales who are born are born with a curse. The curse of the Werewolf. My brother and sister were both born it, however, it skipped me out. So I'm normal. It can suck sometimes when I need superhuman strength, or if I need to eavesdrop on Derek's phone conversations.

"Okay, here we are." Derek declared, getting out.

We pulled up outside the Hale house, which was half burnt down.

We walked up to the porch and I walked slowly behind Derek, he opened the door and the place was filled with rotten wood and discoloured furniture. It was all that survived. I went up the stairs and saw my room was pretty much as I left it, only, the colours of everything weren't so bright anymore. It would do for now.

"Stay in your room Aria, I'll be back as soon as I can." Derek shouted up to me.

I sighed, knowing it couldn't be good. I heard the car start as he moved it out of sight from any passers. They'd start to wonder why the car was there. Something told me the hunters already knew we were back in town. Just perfect.

I sat on my bed for a couple of hours when I heard a wolf howl, it was a long, deep howl. I knew anyone in the woods would've heard that. I stood up, my heart pounding. Laura was right. There was an Alpha running around.

I heard the front door open, but I heard no voices. If it was Derek, he'd tell me that he was home. I'm so not in the mood for hunters.

I walked downstairs cautiously, but Derek was sat on the horrible antique sofa which I'd always loathed. Yet it was one of the only things to survive the fire. He was sat with his head in his hands.

"Derek?" I said quietly.

He didn't say anything, he just stood up and pulled me into his arms. What happened?

"I'm so sorry Ria, she's gone. The hunters killed Laura." He told me as he hugged me.

I didn't cry, I just felt numb. As always.
I stood, wrapped in the safety of Derek's embrace. Words failed me, so we just stood there.
