I felt a series of vibrations from underneath my pillow. I groan lazily looking for my phone. After successfully finding it and stopping the vibrations, I lay back under my warm covers trying to fall back into my slumber. Right as I was about to fall asleep my phone starts to vibrate again.
I groan. "What!?" I answer without looking at the caller ID.
"Someone's not a morning person." The person on the other line mumbles.
I run my hand through my hair tiredly. I know that voice. "Michael what the hell? Why are you calling me so early?"
He laughs. "Oh man. First, it's not that early it's 7:25 and second, I'm coming to pick you up."
My eyes snap open and I lean over my bed to look at my clock. He wasn't joking.
"Oh my gosh..." I mumbled. I scrambled out of bed with the phone still in my hand. "..uh ok, crap I got to hurry up."
"Yeah you do because I don't like being late."
I rolled my eyes. "Bye."
I quickly grab my towel and wash cloth and rush to the bathroom. Ten minutes later I'm standing in my room in nothing but a towel looking for something to wear.
"I need to hurry up." I mumble to myself glancing at the time.
7:50
I shook my head feeling frustrated. I go through my closet again until I find khaki joggers that I never wore before. Almost instantly an outfit popped into my head. I take the tag off and put it on. I put on my black 'NY' graphic tee and slipped on my black and white vans. I throw my hair into a messy ponytail then put on my lip gloss.
I heard a knock on my bed room door. "Come in." I say absentmindedly fixing my hair.
"Hey." My mom walks in.
I instantly stop giving her a blank stare. "Yes?" I raised a brow.
"I'm still your mother Paige don't be rude." She scolds.
I mumble a sorry then leaned against the dresser.
She lets out a sigh. "Okay I won't keep you long because I know you need to get to school, but I'm sorry sweetheart." She swallows. "I know that I haven't been the best mother lately and I don't know what's been going on with you. I'm sorry that I haven't been around much and that all I'm probably doing is adding on to your problems. I don't want to do that, I don't want to be that type of parent." Her eyes fill with tears. "I didn't have the best relationship with my mom and I thought maybe-"
I walk up to her bringing her into an embrace. I knew my mom wasn't always around because of work. I never wanted her to feel like a bad mom I was just upset that she jumped to conclusions without making me explain myself. I don't ever want her to believe she isn't good enough, especially as my mother. She has done so much for me and I appreciate her for that.
"Mom please don't cry. I didn't mean to make you feel like this. I was just upset you wouldn't let me explain myself. You're a great mom and I would never ask for another."
"I Know and I'm sorry. I'll try to change. I promise." She sniffles.
I pull back from the hug and smile softly at her. "So are we okay?"
"Honey no matter what we will always be okay." she kisses my forehead.
My phone rings bringing me back to the reality that I'm about to be late for school. I quickly grab my phone seeing Michael picture pop up.
I furrow my eyebrows answering. "When did you put a contact photo in my phone?"
"Really, is that what you're worried about right now? Come on, you're going to make us late!" He says, rudely hanging up the phone.
