I opened the doors and entered into the hallways of Rosefield High. Dreadfully, I might add. I mean seriously, five days of school every week? Life is too short for us to go to school everyday.

Since i still had a little time to head to class, I casually made my way over to my locker and put my books inside and impatiently waited for Danni.

That girl can never show up on time if her life depended on it. She has been later than usual since the school year began! I fumed. I mean really, how hard is it to-

"Hey,Paige! Sorry I took so long. Nathan wanted me to go with him to his locker first and his locker is on the other side of the school." Danni rambled cutting my thoughts off. "I know that we always meet by your locker first thing in the morning before we go to class and I literally sprinted here because i didn't want you to think that I was blowing you off."

I waved her off. "Oh no, no. Don't worry about it. I was just wondering why you took longer than usual."

Nathan came up her and I couldn't help but notice Danni's rigid posture, her eyes quickly looking at Nathan before looking back at me.

"Yeah sorry, it was my fault." Nathan said clearing his throat. "I didn't know you guys had a routine."

Funny, I didn't even ask his input.

Woah where did that come from...

"Really it's cool. Come on Danni. We're going to be late." I said practically trying to drag her away from Nathan.

"Bye princess." Nathan said giving her her a quick peck on her lips before turning in the opposite direction.

We walked to Mr.Mathews class together in silence. It's not like I was mad or anything. She was late because she walked with her boyfriend to her locker before she went to mines. It just slightly bothered me that Nathan got in the way of our daily routines.

"You sure you're okay, P?'' Danni asked me for third time today.

We passed students as they walked to their various destinations. We just finished our last class before lunch and we were headed to the cafeteria now.

From the corner of my eye, I could see freshmen students who quickly ran through the hallways. I never knew why they decided to all make the freshman classrooms so far away from each other. I'm just glad to say that those days were long gone for me so they were no longer of my concern.

"Yeah why wouldn't I be?" I asked with what I hoped was a genuine smile.

"Well...", She started. "You haven't really said more than several words to me since this morning."

This was true. I just didn't know what I was supposed to say. I know that she has a boyfriend and everything but that doesn't mean that she has the right to spend all her time with him. I know I sound selfish but I need my best friend too.

"I just didn't know what I should say." I replied honestly.

"Why don't you like Nathan?" Danni blurted out.

I looked over at my best friend with wide eyes. I wasn't expecting that. I really thought I hide what I felt about him discreetly. I guess not.

"I never said that I didn't like him."

Deny, deny, deny. That always works.
