Unexpected turns

Chapter XI

I woke up the next morning, full with new emotion. I wasn't happy but at least, I have a way to make Gregg regret breaking my heart and see Jelena loose at her own game.

I brushed my teeth quickly and then stood in front of my closet.

"What should I wear today?" I thought out loud.

What I really felt like wearing was sweatpants but I needed to dress up. You know, to show Gregg that I'm not heartbroken even though I'm the complete opposite . The trick is you don't let them know your true feelings. I slipped up yesterday but never again.

I pulled out a nice yellow sundress. It felljust a little above my knee. I guess it would be appropriate for school. It doesn't show much but the lower section of my back.

I curled my hair and put some lip gloss on. I reached inside my closet again for my flats and book bag before, heading out for school.

"Paige," My mother called through my door. "I need to talk to you before you leave."

What is she doing home?

"What's wrong?" I asked poping my head out.

"Can I come in?"

I stepped aside. "Sure."

She sat on my bed looking at me before she spoke. "Is there something that you want to share with me?"

"No," I said but it came out more of a question. "Why?"

"Your teacher, Mr.Rubin called me last night while I was at work. He said that he gave you detention yesterday and you never showed."

I cringed. I totally freaking forgot about that! Mr.Rubin really had to call my mom though?! All I did was daydream in his class. It's not like I was smoking weed or disrespecting him like some of the other students but call me out why don't you.

"Oh yeah..."

"That's all you have to say?" She shook her head. "Look Paige, I don't know what's going on with you but this can't happen again."

"It was only one time mom." I said, getting annoyed.

"Yeah and it's the last time." Her face hard and serious.

"You didn't even ask me why I got detention!" I exclaim. "All I did was zone out a little."

"What was on your mind that was so important that it made you zone out'?" She places her hands on her hips.

Is she serious right now?

"You want to know what was on my mind..." I said getting angry. "How about the fact that me and my bestfriend are fighting or maybe the girl that use to be my friend hates me and makes it her duty to make me miserable or I know the fact that my 'oh so sweet boyfriend' cheated on me and now I'm hurting." My voice elevates. "You don't know what's going on with me because you're hardly ever here!" tears threaten to fall from my eyes.

She looked hurt by my sudden outburst but I don't care. It was true. If she was here, she would know what's going on with me but she's not.

"I'm just gonna go." I said leaving my room with my stuff.

I slammed the door and leaving my mom in my room. I headed down stairs to the parking lot to find my car and drive myself to school. Once I got there I went straight to my locker. As I was getting my books that I needed for the first few periods I felt arms slither around my waist.
