Steve: He tells you loudly in front of everyone. Your Friends. Your Family.

Two-Bit: He ignores you. You then ask him why he was ignoring you and tells you straightforward, he doesn't want to be together anymore.

Ponyboy: He tells you in person while crying, then offers to take you back one day later.

Sodapop: He slowly tries to fade out of your life to avoid a confrontation.

Dally: He ignores you. Then when you try to talk to him, he dumps you during a screaming match.

Darry: He tells you you're getting in the way. That he has to take care of his brothers.

Johnny: He will tell you he loves you but says it just isn't working out.
