Who am I: Hailey
The time now is 12AM. My heart keeps hurting. At this time right now, I should be loading the lorry with those soap. My head hurts..... How can I earn back my lost money? I dismember the sunflower leaves into small little pieces and threw them back into the vase. I knew I shouldn't have accepted this job as an extra.
"I knew I shouldn't have listened to Sol Mi." I punch the fluffy pillow. But at least there was a teeny weeny bit of gain. This somewhat soft bed, pillow and blanket. How long has it been since I last slept on a proper bed? The feeling felt way too foreign. I've become more accostumed to the hard floor instead of a bed. I hug the pillow close to my face, careful not tug the IV drip too hard.
I slept deeper than usual due to the lovely bed and pillow, waking to the chatter of the Doctor as they check my wounds.
After a lot of probing and tests, I've been deemed out of the woods and safe to go home. When the Doctor announced this, I rolled my eyes at him. That's what I said yesterday. I told them I was okay, they just refused to believe me. Completing the paperworks in a hurry, I change back into yesterday's clothes and quickly walk to work.
The Supermarket Manager was in a bad mood today but In view of my victim appearance (with those bandages around my head and arm; and my fake limping.), I was let off with a light reprimand and a chair to sit at the cashier; much to the envy of the other cashiers.
If you've never done a job that requires you to stand throughout the shift, you might have no idea how holy a chair means. Getting to sit down on a chair is as if Heaven has given you a golden finger! It's an immense benefit!
Another white envelope under the doormat. It's become a norm to expect a white envelope around this time every month. I like to think of it as a sign that Odile is living well. Who else would be so kind as to leave money under the mat for us?
Even Mrs Che is not that kind, even though she had helped us clinch this flat at a lower price and delivers porridge to us when she thinks of us. Mrs Che is not the kind of person to pack money into an envelope and leave it under the mat.
"I'm home." I softly whispered, footprint into the house. Grabbing clean clothes and medicine with my other arm, I tiptoe to the bathroom to bathe.
"Big Sis?" Will got up when I come out of the bathroom. "What happened to you?"
"I was injured on set as an extra. It's nothing." I reply. "Go to sleep. You've got school tomorrow. Oh, before that..." I rummage in my bag to take out my tattered wallet and took out the notes, adding them to the white envelope.
"I got paid today. Pay the school fees tomorrow before Mum takes the money to buy alcohol again."
"Ok." Will replied.

The bad luck from the accident lasted for about two months. Apart from the cashier job, I've lost all my other jobs since I can't use my fractured arm to do any labour work. These two months were hell. Thank goodness I've fully recovered.
Knock, knock, knock
I wash my hands and wipe my hands on my shirt before opening the door.
"Hailey, I've got a job-"
"No thanks." I immediately shoot Sol Mi down.
"Ugh come on, Hay, you need the money, I need to fill the slots and I want to work with you! It's easy money as well!" Sol Mi barge into the house and poured herself a cup of water, as if this was her home. She's tried this attempt the last time and I fell for it, doing the job as an extra, what did I get? 2 months of bad luck. I need my body in good shape right now or I can't earn the money to support the family.
"As if I don't have enough trouble. It's with that Director still, isn't it? I'm accepting any other jobs you have as long as it's nowhere near him." I shake my head. If someone nearly wanted to sue you, why should you approach them and remind them of the case? Besides, I don't even know what law have I broken that warrants him to threaten me so confidently. Two thousand isn't a small sum for us right now, if it was in the past, I would have used even four thousand to smash his head. Let alone a mere two-
My eyes suddenly start stinging.
"Hay" Sol Mi started her whining attack. "You don't even have any other jobs except the cashiering one."
A bulls eye to the heart.
"I can work extra hours there." I lied. "I don't need to step back into the media industry to survive."
"You!" Sol Mi turn red in the face, not with embarrassment but with anger. I hit one of her landmine. "In that case why the hell did you learn acting? You told me you wanted to be an actress!"
"Well now I want to be a cashier." I held my head higher as my heart drop lower. That was a low blow.
"Fine! Live in your own pretty little Lie! Hmph!" Sol Mi storm out of the house.

"Okay fine, how about a job as my assistant? You just need to assist me in cleaning up the set and send the costumes to wash." Sol Mi open the front door, with her puppy dog eyes.
I raised an eyebrow. That was a little faster than last time. I haven't even counted 0. Cleaning up the set... "What's the pay like?""I knew you'd agree!" Sol Mi cheered. "Trust me the pay is way better than a cashier." And she got down to business, transforming into a professional calm manner as she explain the finer details.
The moment I agreed, she opened her bag and search among the contracts. It seems as though if I didn't agree to this job, she'd have a bunch of others up her sleeves.
Among all of us, Sol Mi was the one who had changed the most and yet remain unchanged as well. The Sol Mi I got along with in school was that childish upbeat Sol Mi. In the couple of years since we last met, she developed a completely different personality when it comes to work. She's still as passionate as before though.
I still remember the first time we met. I was acting as a lunatic. Somehow that captivated her and she began sticking to me like gum. Even until now. And her current motive? To see me act.
