Winter came early this season and as I watched the flaky snow fall to the ground, I realize that I've been away from home for almost two years now. Two years... Lady Boss didn't mention that they were moved to another house, so they must still be living there. That house definitely doesn't have any heater, will they be alright?
"Elido!" the group of fangirls in front of the house gushed the moment I alighted. I gave them a wave, before hurrying indoors with Woo Jin.
"I'm back." I said.
"I'm home!" Woo Jin shouted, shaking the snow off his coat.
"Don't shake off the snow here!" Lady Boss fussed at Woo Jin. I gave a tiny bow, before carefully folded the coat so that none of the clinging snow drops and quickly made my way to the basement.
A knock on the trapdoor above my head and I looked up.
"Come to the living room when you're done , Odile." Boss said, before closing the trapdoor.

"There's something I have to explain." Boss said, taking a seat at the sofa.
Woo Jin and Lady Boss were nowhere to be seen, and that created a weird sensation to my instincts, like something big was about to happen.
Boss took out a file from the drawer of the coffee table.
"Sit down. This, is a contract with Lexunos Entertainment that I'm hoping you will sign."
It took me awhile to process the words.
"You're sending me away?"
"No, I'm not. You're part of the package, you're coming with me back to Lexunos."
"I don't understand." I looked at him warily.
"Lexunos was one of my previous company. In order to buy you over to them, they've decided to split the shares of the company with me and make me their co-CEO. You're becoming very popular to the foreign market and they understand the amount of profit they would earn should they handle you. Managing a solo singer is less costly than groups. If we do join, Odile, you won't have to live off digital sales alone anymore. Truthfully, that direction would only lead to self-destruction. I've been planning since the day you signed that contract with me to merge with a company. As your popularity grows, you need a team to manage you too to make life easier for you. Shin can't possibly work free-lance for you forever."
"What about my pay? Will I still get the same percentage of the profit?"
"It will still be the same. So what do you say, Odile?"
"My family?"
"We'll continue delivering their meals to them until they are able to be self-sufficient." Boss said. "Speaking of which, your elder Sister has found another job."
My hand gripped the pen tightly as I looked over the contract. It was a contract that would bind me to the company for six years.
"I'll do it." I said, signing over the dotted line before handing the paper back to Boss.
Satisfied, Boss put it away and took out a white envelope.
"This is your pay for this year." He said.
I opened the envelope to check my first salary.
"May I go out for awhile?"
"Use the back door." Boss said, as he picked up his cup of coffee to have a sip.

The crunching sound of the snow as I slowly walked numbed the conflicting emotions that were spinning around in my head. It's been a year since I came here...
The door felt slightly warm, so that meant they did have a heater. I leaned my head against the door. Jack's at home.
"A lot of the kids in my school drew that on their face. It's the trend-"
My cheek bones began rising. Seems like he changed a lot. I split the money into two stacks, stuffing the other in my pocket.
"This is my first salary, Mum." was what my mouth was itching to say.
My breath swirled in a misty fog as I exhaled and I slide the white envelope under the doormat.
I really hope they'll cope well.
