"Elido, have you heard? Jenna's left the company." Lisa gossiped into my ears as she fussed with my costume, trying to make a stubborn crease disappear.
"Jenna?" I turn my head to her.
Jenna was one of the most senior idol in the Company.
"I heard her album's on a stalemate. There's almost zero profit coming in. I've got insider news that she hasn't had any offers for close to three years. No amount of advertising helps her sales at all."
"Are you serious?"
Lisa nodded her head furiously. "I'm the queen bee in the realm of gossips. This news can't be wrong. It seems like the Management is terminating her contract today."
The Jenna that was the queen of indie music in the past? I've never seen her around the building, but man... Dad really idolized Jenna. I've heard most of her song blasting through the radio every evening when I was growing up! Dad called it the good old oldies.
And that Jenna was getting fired today?! Though the thought was disturbing, just as if it's someone else's business. Well, technically it is. That fleeting thought was soon pushed to the back of my mind as I rushed to meet the packed schedule the Company lined up for me.
Memorizing scripts, answering interview questions, preparing for music shows... Lisa and Shin were even becoming more aggressive with me these few days, man-handling me into clothes the moment I needed to change before throwing me back on stage.
"Still working?" I was rudely shocked out of my thoughts as I look up to see Mr Ki at the door.
"Oh, Mr Ki." I got up and gave a bow. "I'm actually working on songs for the new album."
"Oh those..." He gave a fleeting glance. "Anyway, I'd like to discuss about your lodging. I hear you're still living with Mr Che. We've actually got a new flat ready for you to move in."
And he placed a brown envelope on top of my music sheets. "All the necessary documents are here. I've cleared your schedule for tomorrow for the move. Oh, and by the way, we're shooting a new reality show and your move to the new house will be recorded. The crew will be down to film so make sure you're in the right attire and make-up."
What?! I stare at him with my mouth open.
"Huh? Wait, that's..."
"Is there any problem with this arrangement?" He questioned back, though his stance looked as if there was no room for discussion.
I completely lost my tongue. What am I to say?
"Sir, this is a little too sudden isn't it? "
"Really? I don't think there's anything too sudden about this though. It's perfectly great isn't it, you're getting a new house, and you're moving in. Kapeesh!" He gave a thumbs up and left.

"Really?" Lady Boss said, handing me a cup of hot milk.
"That's what he said. A crew will be here to film the move." I looked downwards at the milky white content. Warmth from the cup tickled my finger tips as I brushed my fingers down the glass distractedly.
"Well then, congratulations." Lady Boss said.
I looked up. What did she mean by congratulations? She looked at me and took a sip from her cup.
"I mean, you can't always stay in the basement, don't you agree? Now you finally have a space to call your own. It's quite an achievement, considering the state you were in originally."
"But..." My eyebrows couldn't help but knit themselves together. "I... I'm... I don't think I'm ready for this."
Lady Boss placed her cup down on the table and looked at me as if she was studying a specimen in the lab. Then she folded her arms and tilted her head to the left .
"Are you not ready to begin your life anew, or are you not ready to leave Woo Jin."
My heart went cold.
"I'm a mother, Odile. Don't underestimate my sixth sense...I'd appreciate it if you'd accept Mr Jin's offer. You've got nothing to lose by moving anyway."
I couldn't reply at all.
"I'm sorry Odile. You're a good girl, you'll find someone better than our Woo Jin. I'm sure you will."
The silence between us stretched.
Perhaps it was getting too awkward for her. Lady Boss cleared her throat.
"I'll inform your family about the move. Don't worry, even if you're moving away, I'll still abide by our agreement and arrange for their meals." and with that, she got up from her seat and to check on her oven. It was clear that that was the end of the conversation but I couldn't move from my seat.
A salty taste invaded my lips.
