I walked away from Amanda's disappearing car and into the fair. At first I expected something to just be siting on a table or something.
I walked around for a while and finally just sat down on the bench. It had been almost an hour and this place was too huge to search every inch of it.
I laid my head back and began to think. If it wasn't on a table or anywhere in plain sight, then it had to be somewhere where we were that day.
I walked to the games we played and found nothing. Then I checked the scary rides and found nothing and ended up almost throwing up.
Last but not least, I found myself going to the Ferris wheel. I walked up to the high schooler and gave them my ticket.
When I walked up to my seat and found someone with a hoodie covering their head already sitting there. So I awkwardly sat as far away from them as I could.
I let out a sigh and looked off into the distance. Then I looked at to person who yet to take off their hoodie.
"Are you okay?" I finally asked them. No answer. "Hello?" I scooted a little closer to them and stared close at them.
"BOO!" The person screamed, ripping off the hood of the hoodie. I jumped back a bit and caused the cart to rock.
Sarah sat there with a giant grin on her face, laughing hysterically at me. I regained myself and scooted closer to her. "Sarah...?" I asked in disbelief. I began to slap her in the shoulder. "What-the-hell?!" I screamed between slaps.
"Oh god! You should have seen your face!" She laughed.
"What are you doing here?!" I screamed.
"I'm here for you Emily Winter James." She said in a creepy voice, causing me to roll my eyes at her. "Axel told me to give you your next present. But since it took you forever to find me and making me ride this stupid ride so many times, I decided to scare you."
I glared at her and crossed my arms over my chest. "So... Where's the present?"
She reached in her hoodie pocket and pulled out a green box. There was a note taped to the lid of the box.
Dear Sweet Cheeks,
I hope Sarah didn't give you any trouble with giving your gift. This is the place and the same cart where you and I had confessed our feelings. When you told me you love me, it was the best day of my life, and still is.
I don't know how many times I can't say I love you. When with you I can never feel blue.
They day we broke up truly sucked.
So go to the place where it all officially came to an end, when we became nothing more than friends.
I opened the box and found yet another charm. This charm was a tiny Ferris Wheel. I attached the charm to my bracket and looked back at Sarah.
"So where to birthday girl?" She said with a smile.
"It's hard to say this, but we have to go to school." I said, waiting for Sarah to explode.
"What?! We have to go to school? On a Saturday! The one day I get to do whatever I want without a adult looking over my shoulder!" She screamed.
"What about Sunday's?" I said, doing my best to hold in a chuckle.
"That's the day I do stuff, but have to stay up all night to finish my homework. I have a system, Emily. You should know this by now." She explained.
The ride started up again and we finally made it to the bottoms of the ride. Getting out of the cart, Sarah lead me to her car and we drove off towards the school.
This is the moment in life I kinda wish I had a car or something so I can drive myself around.
We arrived at school shorty. Sarah wished me a happy birthday and told me she would see me later. I waved goodbye and walked to the front door.
The school was suppose to be locked, usually is on the weekends, but to my surprise the doors were unlocked. I pulled open the door and let the cool AC brush against my face.
I walked down the lit hallway and found myself making my way to a bright open door.
Walking closer and closer with every step, my heart beat faster as I neared the door. What s Axel was in there? What would I say to him? Would I run into his arms and kiss his face all over?
I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath, then let out. I walked through the door and nearly had a heart attack.
Dominick jumped on my back and yelled 'boo' at me. What was it with people scaring me today!?
I turned around and punched him in the gut and set him flying to the ground. "Why the hell is everyone trying to scare me?!" I screamed at him.
"He didn't try anything, Em." A voice said behind me. Ryan walked up to me with Caitlyn next him.
"Yea Emily, he totally got you." She laughed. I gave them both a glare and helped Dominick to his feet.
"Okay, so where's my gift?" I wanted to get straight to the point.
"Here." Was all Dominick said, he was too busy trying to get air in his lungs.
I grabbed the yellow box and read the note attached to it.
Dear Sweet Cheeks,
Your journey has finally come to an end, I hope you had fun. The last place you will find you last present for your birthday.
During this long journey you have taken, your birthday cake has been bakin'. Writing Rhymes isn't as easy as it looks, I had to search through a thousand books. But it was all worth it, because your birthday party is going to be lit. You will find me at Coral Wood Beach, the last place you have to reach.
See you there Emily, my princess, My Sweet Cheeks.
Love,
-Axel
PS
The last charm is because I know how much you love my bike ;)
I folded the note and stuck it in my pocket, like I did with the rest of the notes. I opened the yellow box and found yet another charm. This charm was a motorcycle. I really did love his bike, it was like being free when I rode it with him.
I looked up at everyone, each of them wearing knowing and happy smiles. My heart beat faster as happiness threaten to explode from my chest.
"Let's go see Axel." I said with a smile.
