Shipping: Rythian and Lalna(or Duncan) AU: Apocalyptic
Third Person
Bursting through the gates, despair struck him; horror flashed before his eyes. Lalna felt hot tears trickle down his face.
***
The sound of the crash was unbearable!
Seven years ago, Lalna had been lazily sitting on what seemed to be the fold out bed on the floor of his flat when the first poisonous bomb thundered to the ground not that far away from where he was. The house of which it had destroyed was a pile of rubble on the street. The bomb had left no survivors which was once in that house. Lalna had felt that they were like family to him.
He retrieved his gas mask from the coat peg and ran from his flat towards the rubble. No one was to be seen. No one except a young boy among the rubble, with one of his legs trapped under most of one of the walls of the house. He was sure he was alive. He was wearing a gas mask. He was alive! Or was he? Lalna was so sure of this. He must've only been four or five years old, however, he seemed like he was older, his hair was dark and his face was proud. Lalna picked up the lifeless body and slowly jogged back to his flat muttering," It's going to be okay, everything is going to be okay!"
***
Lalna dragged her feet towards the body. He hoped that there was at least one sign of him still being alive. Lalna tried acting calmly whilst he checked if he was breathing. He wasn't.
"Rythian. Rythian. Rythain how!? How!?" Lalna was hyperventilating as soon as he had spoken.
Lalna couldn't help but think that Rythian was alive, however, he knew that he wouldn't suddenly get up or speak to him.
'How could this have happened' Lalna thought, gazing down at the loose, lifeless body. As he stared around the playground, and hoped to find at least one piece of evidence to know that he was attacked. There it was......the tape.
***
That very morning, Lalna had brought many objects from his adventure which included a flash light for Rythian, who decided to turn it on when the light was facing towards his eye, and a tape ( which was found in one of the many piles of sand in the school playground). As Lalna played the tape, Rythian had become uninterested in the flash light and instead paid all of his attention towards the tape.
" Can you please lend it to me."Pleaded Rythian, eyes fixed on the tape.
"NO! If you break it, I will not be able to sell it!" Lalna quickly replied, his voice full of desperation.
The next morning, Lalna made her way over towards Rythian's bed.
" Wake up lazy bones. Breakfasts ready." Lalna calmly said, peering inside his tent. The mug he held was in many pieces on the cold, dark, damp floor....... He was gone!
**************
The tape just sat there, waiting for Lalna to play it. Suddenly, it had already started to play before Lalna even touched it.
There was a new voice on there; a very familiar voice. It was Rythian's voice. Eerily, the tape diedout. Tears of joy and despair trickled down his face. At least he knew that Rythian was happy. As he cradled Rythian for one last time, he didn't realise how long he was out there for. He was out of oxygen. His body lay there limp, lifelessand loose on the cold, dark, dry floor.
