when you asked where I'd be
In 10 years
I pictured myself
dead and in the ground.
I pictured my room
closed off and locked away
with my belongings.
I pictured
my friends
looking through old photos
of our friends
and then they'd see me in the middle
and they would touch my face
with the tip of their finger
and they would keep the thought of me
forever in their hearts.
I pictured my baby brother
married with kids
and he'd tell his family stories
about our times together.
But
If you ask me now
where I'd see myself in 10 years
I'd answer differently.
I picture myself
About to graduate college.
I see myself helping people that don't even exist at the moment.
I see myself
traveling with my best friend
and having late night talks on the roof
with my soon to be husband.
I see
myself as the cool aunt
and I see myself
making more memories
than I ever thought was possible.
I want to make more friends
tell more stories
and stay a little longer.
