" hi jacob..." i whisper.

" you came." he grins.

i miss his smile.

" yeah.. i wanted to see how you are doing."

" im feeling a lot better now that your here." jacob giggles.

theres nothing i can do but laugh with him.

" at least your feeling better." i shrug.

Silence.

" please dont go." he whispers.

i shiver because he used the same words as hunter did.

but all i can get out is, " i wont."

" you should spend the night..you know..so you won't have to go to school tomorrow."

" yeah.. i'll ask my mom. i just wanna make sure your okay."

Silence.

" i like your necklace.." he says pointing at it.

" uh thanks." i mumble.

" where'd you get it?"

" hunter gave it to me." i say under my breath.

" who?" he asks.

" hunter." i say loud and clear. almost too loud.

" oh."

" yeah..."

Should i tell him were dating? No. Not now. Times must be really tough for him right now and I dont wanna make matters worse.

" are you hungry?" i ask.

" a litle bit." he replies.

" i'll go get us something." i say.

I leave the room jacobs in and walk to the lobby.

" hey mom, can you get jacob and i mcdonalds or something."

" yeah i'll go get some." she replies.

" thanks, also can i stay over night here to make sure jacobs alright?"

" uh sure i guess you can miss one day of school."

" thanks mom."

I walk back to Jacob's hospital room.

" im back." i whisper.

" hi brooklynn." his voice cracks.

" my moms getting us mcdonalds... and she said i could stay the night."

" yay!" he whispers.

A doctor walks in.

" how are you feeling Jacob?" He asks.

" I'm feeling better. " Jacob responds.

" how's your breathing?" The man asks.

" better... it was a little hard to breath earlier."

" okay.." The doctor says while writing things down.

" I'll come check on you in a bit. "

" okay."

The doctor leaves.

Jacob playfully rolls his eyes.

I giggle.

" you said it was hard to breathe...?"

" ...the night i came to hospital my lungs filled with fluid. They think I have Pulmonary Edema, because some of my family members have had it."

" that's why it was hard to breathe." I said.

" yeah..."

Silence.

" i got a kitten." I blurt out.

" aww what did you name it?" He asks

" im debating between marshmallow and angel."

" i like marshmallow." Jacob says.

" marshmallow it is." I say.

" so how's Hunter?" Jacob asks.

" uh he's good." I say.

Jacob opens his mouth to speak but I quickly change the subject.

" im gonna call ally and explain everything to her. " I say.

" okay."

And that's exactly what I do. 

My mom finally comes back with McDonald's.

I sit next to his hospital bed and we eat together.
Once we finish eating Jacobs starts to fall asleep. I put my hand on his hand.

He grabs my hand and holds it. 

I see a smile start to form on his face. 

Then he falls asleep and so do I.
