Peeta's POV

God she's so beautiful. I was staring at the sleeping Katniss in my arms. You would never guess she was so stubborn in her sleep, she looks so gentle, so gracious. I look down and see her hand resting on her stomach, the same place our baby would be. Our baby. Alright, I have to admit I'm thrilled to be a father, but I'm also petrified. Not of being a father, of course, but that I'll have a flashback and hurt the baby or Katniss while she's pregnant. I'm scared of what's going to happen when the baby is wailing and Katniss is screaming from a nightmare. I pushed those thoughts out of my head and focused on my beautiful girl. She's not really mine but hopefully one day she will be. I studied every part of her face, her nose, her lips, anything I could, everything I could. And as she slept I feel in love with her again, she didn't even have to be awake for me to fall in love with, didn't even have to try. My thoughts are broken as she began to stir in my arms.

"Hi." She whispers as she looks up at me.

"Hi pretty girl." I say kissing her forehead.

Her face turned pink and she buried herself in the covers at my words.

"Don't say things like that to me." She said from under the covers giggles escaping between her words.

"Why your beautiful Katniss Everdeen." I said smiling.

"Stop!" She yelled laughing and rolling out of the covers.

"Where do you think your going gorgeous." I said jumping out of he bed and chasing after her.

"Shut up Peeta!" She giggled as she ran down the stairs, or waddled under the weight of her pregnant stomach.

I caught up to her before she reached the bottom of the stairs. I swiped her up into my arms holding her in my arms bridal style. She looked up at me her grey eyes smiling into mine.

"God your beautiful." I said flashing her my signature smile.

"Shut up!" She yelled with a smile shoving her head into my shoulder to hide her blush.

I carried her to the couch in the living room and sat her down on my lap. She turned to face me her determined grey eyes staring into mine, causing me to fall in love with her all over again. I crashed my lips into hers passionately yet gently. She turned around and straddled her legs around my waist. He kisses sent chills down my spine and goosebumps on my arms. She slowly rocked her hips into mine, but we were interrupted.

"Ahem." Haymitch cleared his voice that connects the kitchen to the living room.
"I really didn't need to see that." He said as Effie slapped his arm.

Katniss and I giggled as she got off my lap. Haymitch and Effie walked in and joined us on the couch. I absolutely love Effie and Haymitch together, they give me hope that maybe Katniss and I will be like that. We have a strong couple to look up to now, someone to guide both of us the right way. I almost look at them like my step parents, I know they'll love Katniss, the baby and me unconditionally and I couldn't ask for anyone better.

"Well that was awkward." Haymitch said grunting as he sat.

Katniss was trying to hold in her laugh but it came out as a snort. Causing me to crack up beside her. We laughed until our sides hurt and we couldn't breathe.

"It wasn't that funny." Haymitch said shaking his head at us a smile spreading across is lips.

"So what's up?" Katniss said her giggles lessened, leaving her beautiful smile lingering.

"We're going to adopt a child!" Effie said with a smile wide and beaming eyes.

My face lit up at her words, so did Haymitch's.  I quickly glanced at Katniss, she was smiling but it seemed forced.

"A boy or a girl?" I ask them my voice is filled with more excitement then I expected.

"We are going to be picking her up any minute." Haymitch said with a smile.

"We should actually be going." Effie said getting on her feet and pulling Haymitch up from the couch.

They headed for the door, smiles radiating from their faces.

"Oh and whatever you were doing when we walked in here--" He pauses a smirk playing on his lips.  "Try and keep it in the bedroom." He added before shutting the door behind him.

I looked at Katniss, and the moment we made eye contact we burst out laughing.

"Well that was embarrassing." She says moving closer to me.

It throw my arms around her pulling her into me.

"I can't wait to meet the little girl." I say smiling down at her stomach.

"Ours or their's?" She said raising an eyebrow.

"Both." I smile down at her in my arms.

"I'm hungry." She whimpered.  "Can you make me some cheese buns." She asks a small smile creeping up on her lips.

I walked into the kitchen Katniss trailing behind me. She sat and watched me as I baked, I took little glances at her ever so often. When she noticed me looking she would smile and blush.

"I hate how you make me blush." She said her words were playful.

"I know, that's why I love it." I return smirking at her.

I was kneading the dough for the cheese buns when my mind became a little blurry.  Mutt. I hear in the back of my mind.  Traitor.  My head became clouded with glossy images of Katniss.

"No." I whisper to myself, shaking my head to stop the pictures.

"Peeta-" Katniss whispered behind me.

But it was to late the darkness had taken over and I was already gone.  The last voice I heard was Effie's.

"We're home!" She yelled, and before I knew it my hands were around the mutt's neck.
