Why did this have to happen? Why did he pick me? Why was I chosen? I want to be Garroth Ro'Meave, best guard on record, not Garroth Ro'Meave, lord of Okasis and Scaleswind. I don't want to marry that girl! I've never met her! She could be crueler than Zane for all I know. I wish I could talk with Vlyad. Oh, why did he have to die? Azura won't even talk to me anymore! It's like she blames me for this marriage. Mother could've talked some sense into Father if he wasn't the monster he has become. I must do something. All these thoughts rush through my head; I, Garroth Ro'meave, the eldest son of Garte Ro'meave, lord of Okasis. Maybe I could try to convince the lord of Scaleswind to not make me marry his daughter- no. He would inevitably take offense to such a comment. For one, he might hear it as an insult to his only daughter, whom which he is overprotective with. That would get me in trouble with Father AND Scaleswind. Come on Garroth, think! Something that would make sure I wouldn't have to do this, and not cause a war between the villages! Running my hand through my shaggy blonde hair, trying to come up with something, I hear a high pitched voice calling me.
"Your Highness, Where are you? We need to go to the courtyard for training! Master Feneir will be annoyed with YOU if you don't hurry up!" The voice happily familiar, sounded annoyed with him as usual, but always had that sense of humor.
Oh, thank Irene, it's just Azura. I exhaled relieved. She is the only one who knows my secret. "Azura," I hiss. "Someone might hear you! Don't call me Your Highness, because one, it's weird, and two, people might connect the dots! I just need you to keep the secret for a little longer! "
The sassy Azura I know would have then rolled her eyes, and whacked me upside the head playfully, but she didn't. She instead narrowed her eyes, all happiness gone, replaced by an icy emerald glare.
"Oh, I get it," She sneers. "You don't want the 'commoners' to find out who you truly are and that you're marrying the prissy daughter of the lord of Scaleswind, oh don't worry, I won't tell anyone." She says just before storming off.
Sighing, I put on my helm that covers my face, and jog down the stairs to the courtyard. I think I found my way out of this, since no one seems to like me anymore... this couldn't hurt. . much...
