Seventeen years ago, New York.

To normal eyes, the girl was looked ordinary if a little nervous. She kept looking behind her and then running away at a speed that wasn't humanly possible but of course all everyone was too blind to notice it. If you paid close attention to the scene unfolding, you could see five shadows that were following her. On the wall you could see her shadow which had wings.

The thing is, she was the only one you could see running. To the gifted eye, you could see five things which vaguely resembled men chasing the girl with wings of shadows. These things had red eyes and were made out of shadows and darkness. They were a group known as the knights of hell. As the name suggests, they are the best soldiers and assassins' hell has to offer. These were obviously not people you would want chasing you.

Run. That's all I have to do. If I stop, I die. They want me for what I have, well, had. A way into heaven and for something I know.

If they get me, it's hell on earth. Literally. Angels are then only thing that stands between humans and demons. The thing is, I was betrayed by someone close to me, someone I had trusted and been friend with for all of time. Uriel. He stole my grace to give himself more power. An angels grace is what gives us our power, to take away an angels grace leaves an angel powerless, kind of like a human with wings.

Keep running, block out the pain. I charged full speed down the ally, my wings dragging uselessly behind me. I turned round the corner and hid behind a dumpster. It was then that I realised my mistake. There was no way out of the ally, I was trapped. I may be an angel but when I fell it took all my energy to stay alive.

Earths only hope now is a nephilim called Cora Knight. As Gods last act in heaven, he gave her powers like nothing ever seen before. She has the power to save the world or destroy it. The fate of all mankind rests on the shoulders of a girl that knows nothing of our world. It could be that ignorance that saves her it could be what kills her. With the remanence of my powers, I sent Michael a message. It was his duty to protect her now. There was nothing else I could do for her. Turning to face the demons, I accepted my fate but I was going to take some of them down with me.
