Zeus stared down at Celene and Poseidon with nothing envy in his soul, everyone noticed this change, but no one addressed him in fear of certain death.
The sky grew darker and it parted slowly, whenever Zeus needed to visit the human world he would transform into an eagle and satisfy his erotic needs, but not this day.
Zeus appeared next to King Amphictyon, ruler of Athens. Disguised as one of the King's tax collectors. Often times Zeus would influence the kings ideas to bend his actions to the will of the Gods.
"Your majesty," with a sarcastic salute, Zeus appeared in front of the young King with a smirk. "Will you accompany us this day to collect the taxes from the people?"
"No I will not, take my place instead. I give you my power to lead my soldiers"
"Your will, my hands"
With a sadistic smirk, Zeus turned without another word, smiling because his plan was falling into place and the humans were so easy to manipulate.
(meanwhile in the home of Argon)
"Mother?"
Celene whispered to her preoccupied mother, she was preparing lunch for her family on their voyage into the sea for relaxation, needless to say she did not want to be bothered especially by her impatient daughter.
"Celene, I am preoccupied at the moment as you can very well see"
"Yes I know, but this is a matter of importance!" to emphasize her point she crossed her arms together and stood tall.
"Alright" sighing her mother dropped the unpicked olive branch and turned to her daughter with a tired smile. "I am listening"
"Thank you, now," her breathing quickened and her fingers twisted in her hair nervously wondering how her mother would react to such news. "How do you know when you love a man?"
"Why are you asking me such a question now?" her mother became worried and waited anxiously for an explanation. "Has someone approached you?"
"N-no! Y-yes! I think I am in love with him, but mother, how do I know for sure?"
"Celene, your father and I will find a suitable husband for you, do not trouble your fragile mind with unnecessary thoughts"
Celene's head fell downward in despair, she knew deep down that it was foolish to mention love or another man to her mother.
It would just end in tears and frustration, the little glimmer of hope that she could be happy now vanished, like a boat into the horizon.
"You are right mother, you and father will find me a suitable husband," she sighed defeated on all fronts "I will take a walk on the beach now."
"Be back before we set sail!"
"Yes mother"
Her feet padded along the sand slowly, looking for that ray of sunshine that would make her dreary life happier again, if only for a short time. Alas, he was no where to be found.
It was uncommon for the sky to be so dark throughout the day and Celene was worried what wrath the Gods would bestow upon her people.
Zeus smirked knowing she was scared and decided to play on her fear, as fast as his hands could move he sent a lightening bolt hovering over her.
Within seconds she was crouched under a tree seeking shelter from the impending storm.
Horses crying in the wind caught her attention, three uniformed men on horse back strode toward her family home, taking no heed of the rain and boisterous sounds of the heavens.
With a shuffle of her two feet she was running toward her home.
Greeted by the pale face of her mother, just minutes ago her mother exhumed confidence and rose colored cheeks, now she was just a pale reflection; a scared child in a woman's clothing.
Her father threw down the net from his hands and greeted the soldiers with caution. Not known to his children, but they had gone 4 months without paying taxes and every time the soldiers came to collect he was already at sea with his family.
The soldiers stayed mounted on their horses, as a sign of dominance and their sullen faces were a clear indicator that they were not pleased.
"You have evaded taxation for some months now Silas" this one soldiers voice shook through his body more so than the thunder around them. "Either you pay all that you owe or severe measures will be taken"
"Good man, my family and I were very unfortunate these past months and we were not able to profit much"
With his eyes cast downwards, embarrassment was clear on his face. Hoping to receive some type of sympathy.
But none was given from this soldier. For Zeus controlled this soldier from his golden palace in Olympus and he was ready to rain hell down on this pathetic excuse for a family.
"Then you shall be sent to the mines until you pay back what you owe!"
Everyone's eyes were wide as their mouths, knowing that certainly this would be the last time their father would be seen. Fumbling with his words Silas' speech was snatched from his tongue.
"Please! my son and I are the only men to tend these lands, there must be another way, have mercy!"
The harsh scowl of the soldier fell upon Celene's frightened gaze, and with a smirk a plan formulated in his rotten mind.
"Bring that one, she shall work off your payment," with a suggestive lick of his lips he contiuned seeing the girl in question tense, "her body is surly able."
"Yes take her, she is obedient, she is strong, she will work well"
"Salis!"
Celene heard her mothers scream but she could not register what had just happened. Many thoughts ran all at once through her foggy brain.
Could it be true?
Why have the Gods forsaken me?
Without realization rope was tied over her hands, binding them from escape.
Her mother screams became louder and a glance toward her showed, one burly soldier holding her back.
Her fathers head was hung in shame and her brother Cassio, tried to reason with his father to take back his sister and trade his own life for hers.
But their fathers mind could not swayed, in his mind he thought 'he could always have another daughter, but without a dominant male figure their house would fall to ruin'.
Celene could still not grasp the words to speak, her eyes wide and throat closing every passing second. At this moment she was hung over a black stallion, not moving, and waiting her fate.
With one last look toward the heavens she silently prayed for salvation but because Zeus was set on his path of destruction, Celene would surely be taken from this world as a common slave.
Poseidon's heart was ripped out of his chest. He could feel her pain and knew that his human was in agony.
The fates did not foretell this, someone was twisting their fate. And only one God in all of Olympus has the power; the gall, to perform such an act.
A God who never agreed with their union.
The sea rose almost touching the sky, Poseidon was enraged and Zeus would pay for his meddling.
