Poseidon lay heartbroken on the ocean floor. Limbs stretched out wide and head heavily resting beneath the coral. The creatures of deep tried to lighten Poseidon's mood, but it was no use. He had already been through various decanters of meed and ales. He was surely lost to this world.
His kingdom was in disarray; ships were haphazardly thrown against the waves, the fish became ill and in turn contaminated fisherman - above all else Poseidon was broken.

Zeus felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and with this he'd tried to bed Hera. After all they were bound together for all eternity. But Hera was not succumbing to his tender kisses and feather like touches. She was on a mission. With effortless skill Hera drugged Zeus and as he laid unconscious in their martial bed; she quickly dawned her cloaked and left.
Poseidon's kingdom
The first thing Hera had noticed when entering Poseidon's domain, was the very obvious stench of decay. It was clear that her brother was in distress. The scene before her was disheartening - all of this for one human. At this point, Poseidon had not yet acknowledged Hera's presence.
"Brother," Hera approached what was once a magnificent God but Poseidon had made no sound to respond.
Turning toward her with a blank stare "I am no brother to you!"
His sharp tone stung at Hera's cold heart, everything about this plan felt foreign to her. "Poseidon, please listen, I have a plan-"
"I do not what you have to say," Poseidon sprung from his flaccid position - he was infuriated "this is your fault, don't you see I've lost her because of you!"
The rage that emulated from him was something Hera had never seen from him.
"I am here now and I do not seek forgiveness for my misdoings, just take this"
She handed the emerald necklace to Poseidon; upon touching his palm it glowed. Instantly he felt a connection with the foreign object.
"It's her," Poseidon looked up at Hera; his knees had suddenly given out "It's Celene"
No words had left his mouth, his Celene was in this amulet and all he could think about was how to get her out. Poseidon unsheathed his dagger and was prepared to stab the cursed object.
"Wait!" Hera lurched her hand towards him to cease his frantic actions.
"I am done waiting!"
Snatching the dagger from Poseidon, Hera continued, " You have to release her body into a vessel - where is her body?"
"Her mother found her on the beach two nights ago - I just let her go" heavy tears began to fall from Poseidon's red rimmed eyes.
"Listen to me," Hera grabbed her brothers face in both hands, she was getting tired of his episodes. "you shall see her again."
Releasing Poseidon's face she pulled his body to his full height and with all her strength she led him to Celene's family home.
Celene's mother, Dina, had been praying to Zeus for the return of her stolen daughter. Watching her youngest be forcibly taken from her arms was too much for her to bear. She still cannot look Silas in the eye for what he had done.
When Dina was performing her nightly prayer she saw a women's body float onto shore. As if the waves had carried her right to the Argon home. Moving toward the body, she began to recognize the body as her daughter. Silas heard his wife scream and was awoken from his peaceful slumber. The scene before him was horrific; his daughter lay dead wrapped in seaweed and blue at the lips. His wife cried into the night sky as she clutched her daughters body close to her own.
"Oh my child, forgive me" Dina wrapped her frail arms around her daughter and carried her body into their home; much like she did when her babe was born. Placing her languid body onto the table Dina morbidly started to dress her daughters body in herbs and oils. It was tradition.
At this time, Dina's tears clouded her vision and she could no longer see correctly. Silas watched his wife crumble onto the floor and decided it was best for his wife to be put to bed.
Days later Dina was distraught and nothing would stop her crying. Celene's body was starting to disintegrate and Silas was becoming annoyed with the smell. Roughly he grabbed her body and tossed her carelessly onto the fire pit he'd previously prepared. She was dead, there was absolutely no point to keeping her decaying body in his home.
With a lit torch, her body became engulfed in the flames.
Poseidon and Hera stood in shock - they'd watched the entire scene and never had either of them seen a human disrespect another's body in such an evil way.
"We were too late" a sullen Poseidon gazed down at the glow of the amulet.
"My apologies," Hera looked at her brother in regret, she could not look directly in his eyes "I must go now"
Poseidon could not hear anything she'd said, his vision was blurring, and his limbs were weak. The smell of her burning corpse was making him sick and he'd decided to go to the lake they had shared some time ago.
The flowers around the lake had shriveled and the grass was no longer green, it seemed fitting, everything was dying around him. Poseidon looked longingly at the amulet. He'd failed her again.
Celene would truly never be his.
