Whispers of Zeus' malicious misdoings spread throughout Olympus - all were startled by the news. All except for Hera, she was always aware of Zeus' second nature.

Zeus never showed Hera half the affection Poseidon possessed for his human. She was overly jealous of their unnatural love affair. For the first time in over an millennia Hera felt some semblance of regret. If she had not alerted Zeus of Poseidon's lady love, Celene would be alive with her poor family today - they could've lived happily for a little while longer.

Unfortunately, their love was considered an abomination; it was against the laws of nature, set forth by the original creatures of the universe. The only relationship granted by Zeus, was that of carnal desire; for procreation only.

Zeus' visits to Earth had become more and more frequent as of late, and most days and nights Hera is left alone. Left alone to watch his conquests bare his bastard offspring. She was the only being who tolerated his indiscretion, and by extension, she was the only one who could confront him. She was determined to reverse the wrong she'd created.

Journeying to the underworld, Hera had planned to convince Hades to give Celene's soul over to her - clearly against Zeus' plan. Once she'd arrived in the dark atmosphere she heard the voices of her brothers conversing quietly, it was no surprise that Zeus had lied about his whereabouts - it was common practice.

"Brother, you did well," Zeus spoke in his condescending tone that Hera was more than familiar with. "You must remember that this is for his own good"

"And you will remember to honor our arrangement, correct?"

Hades spoke timidly as not to offend his sociopath of a younger brother. It was a conversation Hades absolutely dreaded having, but for his Persephone he would raise Hell onto Earth.

"Brother," Zeus' tone was light and airy. "Of course, you will have as we have agreed"

Hera's heart clenched - Zeus did all of this out of jealousy of his older brother's true love. Zeus and Hera were not always strangers in matrimony, they were once in love, much like Poseidon and Celene. When they were young, after the conquering of the Titans, both Gods proclaimed themselves as rulers of the Heavens.

"Now that we are settled, hand over the soul of that whore"

"It would be wise, to keep it my possession"

At this moment in time, Zeus was beginning to question his newfound alliance with brother - he had very little patience for Hades' mischievous words.

"Hand it over you fool, before I end you and everything you hold dear"

Zeus' voice boomed like thunder against the heavens and Hades with a sullen look handed over an amulet which held the withering soul of Poseidon's only love. A mortal soul is not meant to remain trapped in such an object - it must be set free or fade from existence. A important fact in which Hades willingly neglected to explain.

Hera remained deep in the shadows, eyes wide and ears open.

"Listen closely," stalking closer to Hades, Zeus wanted his opinion to be known clear. "now we have this between us," clutching the amleut in his paw like hands "if you tell anyone of this you will regret it until the sun falls from the heavens."

Hera heard enough, her mind gathered a plan, all she must do was keep Zeus blissfully unaware. He had to believe he had won.

.  .  .  .  .  .

Zeus entered Olympus with a triumphant smile and the amulet laced through his fingers. He had never felt so magnanimous, everyone knew of his true power and no one would dare challenge him.

Hera had returned only moments before Zeus' arrival and at this time she was steadying her breathing, keeping her mind clear of any love she once carried for the God of the Heavens. Zeus' gaze came upon his long suffering wife and in a moment of weakness he decided to present her with a gift.

"My one and only love, how are you this day?"

"Just the same," her fists were clenching anxiously. "were you visiting the humans?"

"Indeed, though only to retrieve this" he unveiled the cursed object  with a smirk, this was truly a blessed day for their marriage. Hera was not accustomed to such niceties from her vagrant of a husband.

"This will be a lovely addition to my jewelry," feigning innocence was more than difficult for her at this point. With the gaul of a thousand men, Zeus placed the artifact against her breast in an ill advised attempt to reconcile for his infidelity. "many thank, my husband"

"Anything for you, beauty" he placed an affectionate kiss on her rose colored cheek and gazed down at her seemingly innocent face.

Hera looked through his eyes and only saw chaos and disorder brewing within his immortal soul, the man she once loved now mirrored the only true evil she'd ever known; their father, the creator of the universe, Cronos.

dum dum dum dum laaaa. this is unedited bc it's literally 3am and a bitch is tired. let me know if y'all like this chapter and if you can guess what happens next post it on my walllllll.

btw technically hera and zeus are brother and sister. and rhea (their mother) had them in this order: hestia, demeter, hera, hades, poseidon, and lastly zeus - so zeus is the younger brother even though he acts like an ass.
