Celene journeyed into town, to acquire supplies for the month ahead. She had heard from a woman in the village that one particular shopkeep had brought in strawberries from the Spaniards, and Celene was more than interested.

Finally she reached the market and greeted the woman selling fresh fruits.

"The God's bless you child, what would you like today?"

"I heard that you recently received strawberries?"

"Yes dear, I just got a fresh batch, here taste one"

The new berry squished in her mouth and some of its juice escaped, and slowly ran down her chin.

Celene wiped her mouth with the back of her free hand slowly; all the while Poseidon stood watching from behind a spice vendors cart.

He watched her, taking in all of her features.

He watched her ivory hair that flowed down her back, and caught the sunlight.

Her watched her steel grey eyes that widened in amusement.

It was very rare for him to take the figure of a human, but for this woman he would raise the sea floor if it could possibly please her.

Zeus appeared next to his brother laughing at Poseidon's dazed face. Never has a God taken so much interest in a human and Zeus just had to see who his brother was infatuated with.

"Brother, I see you're still pining over that human, when will you take her?"

"Patience. That is the key with humans"

"You are a God, patience is for the weak"

"And with your thinking, I can understand why Hera does not trust you to be faithful"

"I am just populating the earth I created"

Poseidon ignored his brother until Zeus finally gave up and walked away shaking his head back and forth. He did not understand and neither did Hades.

Hades stole his wife and look at where he is now, with a wife who has a plethora of gentleman callers. Now he is more distraught than he ever was before.

No one understood the inner turmoil that plagued Poseidon, he had everything he could possibly want except for true love.

After purchase, Celene placed the strawberries safely in her woven basket and went on to see the alternative protein options.

This was his chance, Poseidon thought as he strode over to the beauty.

"Meat! Succulent meat!!"

"What do you have today?" Celene approached the blood covered meat vender, he carried a clever in one hand - in the other a lamb's bone.

"I have cow flanks and lamb, from Thrace"

"I would like the lamb, please"

"That will be twelve drachma"

Celene's smile flattened seeing as though she only had six drachma left and her family needed some type of protein.

The sea had not been kind to them, and as a family of fishermen, it was crucial Poseidon blessed them with daily catches.

The fruit in her basket weighed heavily on her heart; she'd spent her money on a frivolous object. Her family was not wealthy, they were only able to travel to market once a month.

"My apologi-"

"Here you are sir"

Poseidon reached over Celene and payed the burly butcher without a second thought, he just wanted her to stop frowning. The very expression gaped a hole in his heart; seeing his love crestfallen. The two made eye contact and both stopped to look each other.

"Sir, I will not be able to pay you back"

"I believe in acts of kindness, don't you?"

"Yes I believe, I do"

Poseidon fell in love all over again with her soft voice that voice echoed in his head.

Celene fell lost in his eyes remembering them from a previous engagement.

And this was only their second meeting.
