Unstable lovers

Chapter Twenty

Luke seemed really distant and I was worried that it was because I was boring him. I planned on asking him what was wrong after the film.

I cuddled up to him until the film finished. I looked up at Luke and he looked as if he was either ready to smash a wall or cry. It was scary I hadn't seen him angry before.

"L..Luke are you ok?" I ask worried.

"Err yeah I'm fine," he says and looks away almost as if he was ashamed.

I put my hand on his arm and looked at him. He looked pained and I couldn't understand why he wouldn't tell me.

"Luke you can trust me with anything,"

"Not this. No one can know," he said and then stood up holding his hand out for me to hold. I took the offer and held his hand as we walked out of the cinema and back to his car.

"Lilly you know I love you with all my heart right?"
" yes and I love you too with all of mine," I say giving him a smile.

"I never wanna loose you," he says as he places a gentle kiss on my forehead.

We then headed of to do the laser shooting we had booked.
I was nervous a I had never been laser shooting before but from what I knew it sounded fun.

We had fun at laser shooting it was amazing. It was even more fun than i'd ever have expected. 
After that we headed of to the resterant where we were going to have our meal. It was really fancy and everything was decorated really pretty.

We were taken to our table and we ordered spaghetti bolagnase with garlic bread and talked as we waited. We asked each other loads of questions to get to know each other even better because I may have spent a lot of time with Luke, but we hadn't really got to know everything about eachother yet.
"So, what brought you to America?" I ask him.

"It's complicated and I dont think I should say," he says with a upset expression.
"It can't be that bad Luke, c'mon tell me,"

"Trust me it's bad,"
"Please,"
"No Lilly I'm sorry," he said "let's just change the subject.
"O..okay"

Our food came and we ate it. It was the most amazing food I had ever eaten I swear I could have eaten it about a thousand times if I had the chance.

After our meal we went for a walk down the beach. I was having the time of my life, running along the beach hand in hand with the boy of my dreams. It was perfect.

We sat down watching the tide and giggling with each other over stupid jokes. Then we began staring into each others eyes and he caught me by surprise by cupping my face in his hands and kissing me. I had never been on a date, nor kissed anyone properly before so all this was new to me and I was too caught up in the moment to know what to do.  But I didn't care, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world right now.

When the night was over we went back to his car and began the drive home. I still couldn't stop thinking about why he wouldn't tell me why he moved here. I really didn't understand.

"Luke,"

"Yeah,"

"You never did tell me why you moved here?" I say.

"Why does it matter to you so much?"

"I don't know i just feel like we know eachother well enough to not need to keep secrets,"

"It's not a secret it's just better if you dont know!" He said starting to get angry.

"Why?!" I said getting frustrated at how rude he was being all of a sudden.

"Because I fucking killed my best friend!" He yelled. "I killed my best friend a year ago today," he said quieter as tears began to roll down his face.

I was too stunned to talk.

"I didn't know he was there. But he's gone and it's all my fault!......It's all my fault," he said as he began to break down.

"Luke pull over please," I say scared that he would crash.
He pulled the car over and parked it at the side of the road.

"What do you mean you killed your best friend?"
