Chapter 28
(What do you Fear?)
Phobos took out some dream dust that Ares had leftover from what Morpheus had given him and gently blew the dust toward Alex and her friends. They watched and waited as Alex and her friends each fell asleep.
“Time to have some fun,” Phobos announced. Deimos smiled and nodded at his lighter haired twin brother. “Who do we begin with?”
“I’ll begin with Alexandra. You begin with Liam,” Deimos announced keeping his eyes on the woman his father planned to marry. “Time to find out what she fears.”
**
Alex smiled as she walked through a garden with stone statues. The sky was clear and sunny and the air was warm but not hot. Everything seemed perfect. She walked further and a stone archway came into view.
“We’re almost there!” Patty said delighted.
“Don’t you dare.” Alex turned and watched as Ares appeared less than a foot away.
“I want them safe,” The red haired girl said quickly.
“They I will allow, but not you.”
Alex shook her head from side to side. “I can’t marry you Ares. I’m…mortal. I…I don’t belong amongst you. You’re a god and…”
“Technically you’re a demigoddess,” Ares said flatly. “At my side is where I want you!”
The red head swallowed and began backing away from the God of War. “Ares try to understand. I have no business as a stepmother to gods or goddesses. I’m still in college. I’m 22 years old not centuries old like you. What happens when you get bored of me?”
**
Deimos watched in silence as Alex’s dream played out. A frown graced his face as he realized scarring the woman would be easy but scaring her into running toward his father instead of away would not be. Alex’s fears seemed to resonate around his father. ‘I need help.’ Without revealing himself the god left the woman’s dreams.
**
Phobos entered the dream to see Liam was kissing Patty in his dream. ‘Perfect.’ The god thought to himself. Phobos instantly made himself appear in his father’s form before making himself a prominent figure in the dream. “You have defied me!” Phobos yelled using his father’s voice.
“Ares!” Liam said clearly afraid.
“We had a deal Liam!”
“It wasn’t my idea!” Liam said quickly and pulling the dream Patty behind him. “Alex wants to run. I knew it was a bad idea! I knew you’d be angry,” The human man said not hiding his fear.
“Bring her back to me or you will lose everything!” The image of Ares warned. Phobos snapped his fingers and the image of Patty faded.
“No!” Liam yelled horrified.
“You persuade Alexandra to return to me or I’ll end any chance you have with Patty,” Phobos sneered as skillfully as his father. “I’ll let my sons or another god have your pretty girlfriend. I will…”
“I’ll try,” Liam said lowering his head in defeat.
Phobos grabbed him by the neck of his shirt. “You’ll more than try boy. Alexandra is mine! Fail me and this will seem like a slap on the wrist!” Phobos threw the boy and waited for him to feel the hit of a brick wall before ending the dream. Liam would remember and feel the impact but show no physical evidence of it. Pleased Phobos left the dream. Liam would now be haunted by natural nightmares that would make it impossible for any of them to know any of the dreams had been brought on by the gods.
