Chapter 26

(Chased by the Gods)

Alex lay still as she listened to the God of War sleep. Careful not to wake him she slipped out of bed and quickly got dressed. She was about to walk out of the private area the god had created when she couldn’t help but look over at the dark haired god.

The redhead frowned as she looked at the beautiful god sleeping in the bed. Part of her wanted to remove her clothes and get back into bed. A feeling of commitment and responsibility to her friends however stopped her. Silently she slipped out of the curtained area and quietly made her way toward her friend’s rooms.

The stone walls were cool and in the dark held a harsh and unforgiving look to them. Quietly she entered the first room. Her eyes widened as she found Liam and Patty were in bed together. ‘Looks like I wasn’t the only one getting and giving pleasure tonight.’ Quietly she walked over and gently shook Liam’s shoulder.

Liam woke with a start and the red haired girl quickly covered his mouth. Once she was sure he wouldn’t make noise she removed her hand. “Wake Patty and be very quiet.”

“Alex, what are you doing?”

“It’s time to get you guys to safety. Medusa is getting desperate and I’m not about to let her kill any more of my friends. We’re going to head for the only place you’re guaranteed to be safe.”

“What about Ares?” Liam asked. “He said you couldn’t go.” Alex frowned but didn’t speak. “Is something wrong?”

“Get Patty up and dressed we can’t be found out.” Without answering the redhead left the room and headed for Jimmy and Doug.

“Ares will be pissed,” Liam sighed. He looked over at the brunette girl sleeping next to him. Alex may not have said much but something was definitely not good if she felt they needed to leave. One thing he knew about Alex though was when she made a decision it wasn’t easy to change her mind. His gut told him something wasn’t right between Alex and Ares and protecting them gave her a reason to run.

Ares opened his eyes and when he realized there wasn’t a head on his chest he looked over to see Alex was gone. ‘She probably didn’t want to wake me,’ He summarized. However as his hand touched the area where his bride should have been he found it was ice cold. ‘I don’t like this,’ He thought to himself.

Quickly the God of War got out of bed and quickly dressed. Ares walked out of the area not bothering to tie back the curtains. He needed to find out what Alex was up to.

“Hello Ares. Alex still sleeping?” Psyche asked.

“You haven’t seen her?” He asked becoming concerned.

“No.” The goddess pointed toward the curtained area. “She’s not still asleep?”

“NO and based off the coldness of her side of the bed I’d say she hasn’t been there in a while,” The god replied.

“Alex hasn’t come out this morning,” Psyche said. Quickly she turned and the two Olympians headed out to the stairs of the temple. “Nike!”

“What’s wrong?”The Goddess of Victory inquired; her blue eyes becoming uneasy.

“Has anyone seen Alex?”Psyche asked.

“She’s not still asleep?” Hestia asked.

“No,” Ares replied. “Where are her friends?!” The god demanded.
