Chapter 4
(Gaining Allies)
Alex and her friends walked down Ermou, a road full of local shops, after spending a few hours at the Agora ruins and then grabbing a bite to eat.Meredith wanted to do some more shopping. Reluctantly, Jimmy and Doug had agreed, not wanting the girls wondering around Greece alone.
“Isn’t that the goddess Artemis?” Patty asked, looking at a vase.
“Who wants to see something with Aphrodite on it?” the blonde woman asked. “There!” Meredith declared, seeing a vase with the goddess of love on it, a dove on her finger. “I’m going in there!” she declared and upon walking over, entered the shop with the vase in the window.
Alex raised an eyebrow at her friend, but didn’t comment.
“Is it me or is she like Aphrodite-insane?” Jimmy commented, watching the blonde woman enter the shop.
“So you noticed all the goddess of love stuff she bought too?” Doug remarked.
“We were late last night because she took three hours to curl her hair into locks to match a vase she saw in the lobby of the hotel!” Patti informed their male friends, clearly annoyed.
“I thought…. Never mind,” Doug said with a huff. “I’m going in there!” The group of friends watched as Doug entered a shop that had a shield in the window.
“Me too, doesn’t look girly,” Jimmy agreed, seeing that there were other weapons displayed within the window.
“I’m not going in there,” Patty said upon looking at the darker decor. Instead, she wondered over to the store Meredith had entered and joined the blonde girl.
Alex looked one direction and then the next. Deciding that she was tired of looking at jewelry with Meredith, she followed her male companions into the darker-appearing store.

Elise and Dorian followed Alexandra and her friends as they shopped. Theodus and Latoya had followed them during their trip through the ruins, but now it was their turn to safeguard the girl while Theodus reported to his father.
Dorian smiled as they entered a row of shops that were dedicated to the gods and goddesses of Olympus. He was even more pleased as he witnessed the redhead enter into a shop owned by the Sebavzomai Haima*.
“Perfect,” Elise said, pleased. Casually, they walked over and entered the shop, following their charge.

Alexandra walked through the shop, admiring the different weapons and manlier décor. She looked at several things and noticed a dog on many of the items for sale.
“Dog? Who has… Ares?” The redhead said, looking at a bronze shield etched with designs and recalling some of the artwork she’d seen involving the God of War.
“That’s cool,” Doug said, walking up and looking at the shield. He picked it up and was surprised to find it a lot heavier than he expected. “Shield of Ares,” he said, with an approving nod.
Alex smiled and then walked away from the shield. She walked further back into the shop, passing a few garments with Ares on them.
As she reached the back of the store, she noticed a case that contained coins and even jewelry that was adorned with symbols of the God of War.
“Is there something I can take out for you to look at?” Alex looked up to see a man that appeared to be in his mid-fifties looking at her from behind the counter.
