Chapter 29
(Switching Sides)
Aphrodite was about to walk out onto the terrace when she heard the voices of the half Harpy Mauve and harpy Stheno.
“Nemesis get Amphitrite. Poseidon will be at Medusa’s mercy,” Stheno said openly amused.
“Olympians will be at our mercy,” Mauve said openly pleased.
“Love Goddess Foolish. She nothing but a slave to us now,” Stheno boasted. “Once have Amphitrite and mortal Alexandra all gods will bow to us.”
‘What have I done?’ Aphrodite questioned herself. Going after the mortal Alexandra was one thing but Amphitrite was quite another. Poseidon’s wife was gentle by nature. There was no reason to include her in all of this.
The Goddess of Love quietly left her place by the door leaving no trace that she had been there recently or might have over heard anything. She faded from the house only to appear moments later by the sea below.
She fiddled with her blonde hair as she walked along the beach trying to figure out the motive for going after Amphitrite. ‘Why Amphitrite? What did they have to gain?’ She wondered. “I wanted to get rid of Alexandra not Amphitrite,” She mumbled to herself. “Alex is in my way. Amphitrite isn’t in anyone’s way. Ares was supposed to be…”
Her blue eyes went wide as realization dawned on her. ‘In the name of Zeus, no!’ She internally screamed as she looked up toward the house. ‘Medusa wants Poseidon!’ A sense of panic began to race through her. ‘What am I going to do?!’ Suddenly it wasn’t just failing her duties as a goddess on her mind but that of an Olympian Goddess as well. “What can….” Remembering the Harpies an idea hit her. With a smile on her face she headed back to the house.
Aphrodite appeared in the room that Medusa occupied more than any other and announced, “I have an idea!”
‘Oh Zeus!’ Enyo thought to herself remembering the Goddess of Love’s last idea that involved way too many flowers. ‘I’m afraid to know how dumb this idea will be.’
‘This should be good,’ Medusa thought to herself. ‘I wonder if she can top her last dumb idea.’ A glance at the dark haired Goddess of Destruction revealed they were thinking along the same lines. “Really?” Medusa said in a drawn put almost bored tone.
“Yes!” She said proudly. “Capture Amphitrite!”
“What?” Enyo said caught off guard.
“Amphitrite is rarely aware of anything taking place on Olympus,” Aphrodite told them. “We capture her and Poseidon will bring us Alexandra to get his wife back!” She said with a proud smile on her face.
“You’re idea actually has…Merritt,” Medusa said not hiding her surprise before looking over at Enyo who was still looking at the blonde woman in pure amazement. “You are however a little late.”
“Late?” Aphrodite asked cocking her head to the side and giving them the look of a stereotypical confused dumb blonde. ‘Please by this,’ she internally thought. Aphrodite wasn’t a complete idiot but hoped they’d by the act she was giving that so many blonde mortals had used to get others to do things for them.
“Nemesis just left to capture her,” Enyo said looking a tad confused. ‘When did she grow a brain?’ The Goddess of Destruction wondered. She’d never heard the Goddess make a good idea that didn’t involve love and things like that. Silently she was somewhat impressed.
“Oh,” The blonde woman said before acting disappointed she hadn’t been sooner with her idea. “Well then we should have her soon.” She looked away and then pretending what they said had just dawned on her she looked at Enyo. “Did you say Nemesis?”
