Chapter 7
(Perspective of the Olympians)
The gods and goddesses of Olympus watched in secret as the God of War interacted with his mortal. Many were surprised by what they witnessed as well as what they sensed. Unlike any woman before her, the girl named Alexandria had a calming effect on Ares. They were amazed by how quickly the fellow god had gone from completely irritated with them to very calm at the mere sound of her voice.
‘She’s good for him,’ The goddess of wisdom thought. Athena couldn’t help but hope that through her, many needless wars would end. She knew her brother was an instigator, but she couldn’t help but wonder if it wasn’t somewhat because he was always so agitated. Perhaps the red-haired mortal was what her brother needed to balance himself.
Apollo watched the girl with curious eyes. There was something about her he couldn’t quite place. The sense that the girl was special somehow threatened to overwhelm him. Somewhere in the depths of his mind, the word prophecy began to surface. Looking at the blue-eyed mortal woman, he sensed her presence was good and not bad. The thought that she should be protected flowed through him.
“Wait, Ares…this is crazy,” Alexandra said, pulling out of his arms. “We barely know each other and we’re going to embark on a cross-continent relationship?!” Alexandra brushed a piece of red hair away from her face. “How can this possibly work?”
Ares smiled at the woman before him. It was clear that Alexandra was not one to act before she thought about things.
“I have a semester of school before I’m done. I have to focus on that.”
“I am not opposed to allowing you to finish your education,” The amber-eyed god said calmly. “I think even my family will approve.”
Alex sighed and looked down for a moment before she looked at her handsome stranger. “I don’t know what kind of girls you’re used to, but… I don’t do anything without thinking it through. I’m not quick with decisions unless it’s a matter of life or death. I debated for a week before I even agreed to come to Greece with my friends.”
“You came.”
The red-haired girl smiled. “I couldn’t pass up the chance of a lifetime,” She replied. “I mean I’m in Athens.” Gesturing to the crumbled temple she said, “This is the temple of Zeus, Zeus The King of the Gods. I couldn’t pass up this experience. There is so much…magic here.” Looking down, she said, “It makes me sad to leave, even with my dehydration issues.”
“Dehydra…”
She waved her hand at the God of War. “Trust me you don’t want to know. You’ll think I’m crazier than even I do.”
“You’re not insane,” Ares told her.
“Yeah, I’m so normal I saw….never mind,” The mortal woman said, shooing the thought from her mind.
“Alexandra, you can tell me anything,” The God of War told her. He took her right hand and bringing it to his lips, placed a gentle kiss on her knuckles.
Alex internally struggled on whether or not to tell him about her first time to the Agor ruins. She really liked him and didn’t want him to walk away. ‘Maybe I should tell him. Best to end things now. Cross-continent relationships don’t work.’
She took a deep breath and said, “I saw things at Agora.”
Ares looked at her for a moment before saying. “I did give you a tour,” He reminded her.
