Chapter 12
(No help)
Alex entered her first class for the day ten minutes before class was to begin. The redhead had never liked to be late but more importantly wanted to get a good seat in her English Folklore class. With any luck she’d click with her new teacher. If she was really lucky the professor would know a lot about Greek Mythology.
The Blue eyes woman looked down at the ruby ring on her right ring finger. Someone had to know something about the ring she wore. She was surprised to see the red ring seamed to become suddenly brighter but passed it off as the light changing where shadows in the room fell.
“Is this seat taken?” Alex looked up to see a beautiful blonde woman with blue eyes looking at her and gesturing to the empty seat next to her.
“No, by all means,” She replied and smiled at the unknown woman.
“Thank you,” Nike said and sat down next to Ares’ bride. The goddess internally smiled as she looked at the ring on the mortal woman’s finger. It was brighter than it was normally. The Goddess of Victory couldn’t help but be amused. If Alex had known the ring was alerting her to an immortal presence the mortal probably would have run. The brightness the ring took on was a warning to any other god or goddess that the ring wearer belonged to another god or goddess.
“Hey Alex!” Patty chirped and flopped down in the empty seat next to her.
“I didn’t know you were in this class,” The redhead commented surprised to see the brunette girl. She knew for a fact Patty didn’t like English classes. The girl took the bare minimum of English classes and that was it.
“Yeah, well, circumstances being what they are I thought it best we all learn as much as possible,” The brunette replied.
“About that…It might be best if…”
“Don’t even,” Meredith said slipping into a seat behind the redhead. “We’re in this together!”
“I saw him,” Alex said with concern.
“He’s here?” Jimmy said in a concerned whisper as he took a seat across from Patty.
“We’ll talk after class,” Alex said as more students entered the room. The last thing she wanted was for their classmates to overhear them and think they were crazy.
“Good Morning class,” A woman with long straight black hair said addressing the class from the front of the room. All eyes immediately went to where the woman stood. “I am Miss Pryah and I will be your instructor for this class.”
Nike took one look at the woman and sensed something wasn’t right. She knew the woman before her wasn’t a goddess but sensed darkness. The Goddess of Victory knew from others that there were humans that were truly evil but something wasn’t right about the woman before her. She knew whoever or whatever the woman was she wasn’t immortal. Still she was unsettled. The air seemed to whisper a silent warning of danger.
“Open your books to page 21 and we will begin,” The dark haired teacher instructed.
Alex opened her book but felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. The redhead didn’t know why but she did not have a good feeling about the woman before her.
‘Damn it! This woman is not going to help me,’ she thought to herself. A glance back at her blonde haired friend revealed a look of concern on Meredith’s face. It was clear the Daughter of Eros felt it as well. Alex internally groaned. It was going to be a long class.
