Chapter 6
(Ring of Claim)
Meredith arrived at the Temple of the Daughter’s of Eros with high hopes. The disciples of Aphrodite would not turn their backs on her and her friend. She would find help among fellow daughters to save Alex from Ares’ followers.
The blonde-woman entered the temple disguised as a Christian church, and walking to a table where a woman wearing a pink headband with a rose on it, she showed the woman her ring.
The woman immediately smiled at her. “Come with me, sister.” Meredith didn’t hesitate and followed the white-haired, aging woman down a hallway, and then after entering two large doors, they headed upstairs to the third floor. Pink carpet covered the stairs and symbols of Aphrodite covered the walls; as did pictures of their goddess.
“I am Mable,” The older one said as they walked.
“Meredith.”
“You are the one with the friend who is being sought, are you not?”
“I am. I do not wish to see the God of War’s servants harm my friend.”
“Very loyal of you,” She replied. “This way.” Mable opened a door and they quickly reached a sanctuary that looked much like how the inside of a temple to the Greek goddess should. “Sisters, Meredith is here.”
Meredith smiled as four women varying in age approached her. “Thank you, sisters.”
“Of course,” Said a tall woman with sandy-blonde hair down to her waist. “You said the Sebavzomai Haima* were following your friend.”
“Yes. I first noticed it at the Agora ruins,” Meredith began. “At first I didn’t realize they were worshippers of Ares. I just noticed that we were being followed. It wasn’t until we left when I noticed the girl had the symbol of Ares on her earring. We went to the market a little later and two others followed. I saw their symbols immediately,” The blonde woman told them. “I do not wish to see my friend be made a sacrifice of blood to the God of War.”
“We shall have servants follow as well. We must know for sure why they are following your girl before we can act,” A tall, black-haired woman with piercing green eyes said. “Lest we act in haste and lose all hope of helping your friend…”
“Alex.”
“Alex. I am Cicele,” The black-haired woman told her. “Mable, Hannah, Carise, or I will call you directly when we learn something.”
“Thank you, fellow sisters. All help is appreciated.” Giving a respectful bow of the head, the blonde college student left; a sense of relief ran through her, she had help.

It was just after sunrise as Ares stood at the site of the temple of his father, high on a hill, looking down on the City of Athens. ‘This would be an excellent place to bring her,’ he thought to himself. ‘No people to interrupt us. Secluded, should anyone be unaccommodating.’ While he wanted to believe the other gods and goddesses would behave when they saw his bride, he knew better than to think everything would go as planned.
A smile crossed his face and he disappeared to pay Damon another visit. He had things for his devotee to do.

Aphrodite paced back and forth angrily. ‘How dare he cast me aside!’ The blonde woman was livid. A man who she’d shared countless sexual liaisons had suddenly cast her aside for some mortal whore! ‘I’ll see this girl and get rid of her!’ The goddess silently decreed. “Once this Alexandra is out of the way, Ares will return to me.” Pleased with her decision, the goddess decided to go see the Queen. Surely the queen would help her.
