The first day of school is always interesting.

You meet new friends, figure out your new daily route, see who's in your class.

Anxiety and nerves sometimes kick in as you hope to goodness that you won't have so much homework in your upcoming year.

Today was my first day of school. That was the day I tried to arrive early so I wouldn't make a late impression on my first period teacher.

As I begun walking to my class, I was too preoccupied with my thoughts of the first day of school to notice that a confused boy was running. To our misfortune, the both of us collided into one another, causing the papers he was holding to fly everywhere.

"I cannot believe how clumsy I am today! Ugh, I am so sorry," the boy told me as he kneeled to the floor to pick up the papers he dropped.

"It's alright. I probably should've been looking where I was going as well," I giggled a bit, as I also kneeled to the floor to help him pick up some of the other papers that had flown out of his grip.

"Don't worry about it," he told me with a small smile as he stood up, reclaiming his composure and taking his papers back. With his free hand, he held out a hand in offer to help me to my feet.

I met his blue eyes and accepted his hand, causing him to help gently pull me back up. I slung my backpack back over my shoulder and noticed that his eyes were searching the map and matching it to his schedule.

"Hey, do you need any help finding your class? I think we have a few minutes before the bell rings," I offered my help.

"Oh, thanks! Would you be able to point me in the right direction to my class? I'm new here and everyone sends me in the wrong direction when I ask for help."

"The people here could be pretty cruel at first, but with enough time, I'm sure you'll be part of this crazy school family. Let's see your schedule!" I told him, causing him to flash a silly grin at me.

He took it from the top of the pile and handed it to me.

"Oh hey, it seems like we're in the same class!" I exclaimed with a bit more excitement than I intended to give off.

I awkwardly pushed my glasses up from my nose as the bell rang. "Goodness gracious, what happened to the bell ringing at 7:50? Now it's 7:45?" I mumbled with a short groan following.

"Guess we should probably get to our first class," the boy mentioned, probably not wanting to be late either. Sharing the feeling, I begun to start walking in the direction of our new class.

"Good idea! Anyways class is starting and you shouldn't be late on your first day," I said to him with a playful smile. He seemed nice, and I wanted to be his friend.

He laughed nervously and asked, "You're right. So hey, what's your name anyways?"

"Just call me Cherry. What's your name?" I told him, asking in return as I led him through our new route.

"Cherry, huh? That's a cool name. My name is William Diplon. I usually go by Will or Liam. Either way I'm good, just as long as they don't use my horrible nickname from elementary school," he explained.

"Wow, some people are rude these days. People like to call me Chairbutt... They really have no creativity when it comes to nicknaming a girl named Cherry," I said with a short huff.

"My nickname was Poo Dip. I don't know why. I'm guessing it was probably thanks to my last name. You're definitely right about the no creativity when it comes to nicknames thing," William told me as he followed me to class.
