"that shit's creepy, dude," jian commented after hearing aspyn's story, taking a bite from her slice of pizza afterwards. "he's probably stalking you."
"what for?" aspyn questioned, wiping the corner of her mouth with a napkin. "i mean, he doesn't even look like one."
"so what does he look like, then?" jian raised an eyebrow at her, her nostrils widening.
"well," aspyn started, shoving down the last bit of her pizza slice on her mouth. "he has-""wait!" jian shrieked, startling her. "someone's at the door. it might be him."
jian tip-toed to the front door, looking through the small hole.
"how can he possibly know where i live when - " aspyn started to say, but jian hushed her.
"nope, not him," she said in a monotonous tone, the giddiness she had awhile ago fading slowly. "it's just luke."
"see?" aspyn felt her chest become lighter, letting out a sigh of relief. "no one's stalking - oh my god, it's luke!"
then jian turned the doorknob and opened the door fully, revealing a tall boy with messy blonde hair and swirling ocean blue eyes and a noticeable black ring circling on his bottom lip.
he was the boy. he was ...
"luke!" jian exclaimed, stretching her arms out. "good day! what brings you here?"
luke was looking at aspyn, then he set foot inside the apartment and slowly made his way to her direction, not breaking his gaze on her. it was as if aspyn was being hypnotized when she looked into the big, wide ocean she found in his eyes, beautiful as they could ever be.
"aspyn," luke said, caressing her blushing cheeks with both of his hands. "are you papa bear's porridge because you're hot."
then he leaned in, almost closing the small gap in between their faces, when jian slapped her in the face.
"aspyn!" she whisper-hissed at her, making aspyn open her eyes and wake up to reality. "what the hell on earth are you doing?"
"luke told me that i was hot," aspyn's eyes lit up as she spoke, showing how much she cared for this 'luke,' which made jian shed some tears of laughter coming from the corners of her eyes.
"what did she just say?" aspyn heard a voice - a raspy one - coming from the door. "did she say my name?"
aspyn closed her eyes, dazed and confused and frustrated. when she opened them, everything became clearer and realer in sight. she looked at the door and saw a bad-postured old man with white hairs and round eyeglasses standing there, pointing at her.
"wait," aspyn cleared her throat. "your name is ... you are ..."
"luke!" jian jumped in front of aspyn, grinning at her like a crazy maniac. "this is mr. luke williams and he did not just call you hot."
"damn right!" luke gave jian a thumbs-up, laughing afterwards. "i am a happily-married man with five beautiful children."
"right, of course!" aspyn clapped her hands, acting as if she just did not embarrass herself in front of her best (and only) friend and an old man. "luke. that's right."
"jian," luke whispered, motioning for jian to come closer to him. "has your new friend hit herself in the head?"
"i can hear you," aspyn sing-sang as she made her way to her room, so that she won't do anything embarrassing anymore.
-
when aspyn heard jian say, "goodbye luke! i'll see you next week!" she immediately opened her door and went back to the living room, greeted by a sight of jian laying down on the floor laughing.
