"jesus christ, luke!" aspyn yelled, her eyes opening widely as she arched her back from the headboard of her bed. she looked on her right and saw nothing but the white sheets and pillows; she looked under her blanket and saw that she still had her clothes on. she didn't need to look at her hair, though, as it wouldn't surprise her if it was messy and all, since it was just naturally like that.
it was just a dream, she thought. none of it was real. it was only just a dream ...
the butterflies, or more or less a goddamn zoo, in aspyn's stomach was just starting to fly away when she glanced on her end table and saw her coffee mug with one of her yellow-colored sticky notes on it. she could hear her heart beating as she leaped forward to reach for the note. it read ...
"do you like coffee? because i think about you a latte. if yes, here's an espresso for you! :-) xx"
the handwriting was not really the best but she managed to understand it. it didn't look anything like jian's handwriting, oh no; her penmanship had no flaws, and aspyn had been jealous of it since day one. she smelled the coffee suspiciously before taking a sip of it, thinking that maybe it was jian playing tricks on her. again.
whilst drinking her delicious coffee, she saw something that caught her attention on the corner of her eye. on top of her dresser were flowers, beautiful, colorful ones. she walked towards it with her mug in her hand and saw that attached to the bundle of flowers was another goddamn sticky note.
"if you were a flower you'd be a damndelion (but i can't find any dandelions near here so i just got you roses. i think you should count them)"
and so she did, and she then had eleven red roses on her hand. she was just murmuring some kind of gibberish language when she looked up on her reflection on the mirror, only to find another goddamn note.
"if you stood in front of a mirror with eleven roses in hand, you would see 12 of the most beautiful things in the world."
aspyn laughed, rolling her eyes and went for the door, hoping when she went outside of her room, she would finally know who did all of this. as she opened the door, rose petals were on the floor, but they weren't scattered everywhere like her hair; they were forming a path, and she followed the trail leading to their small living room, and saw luke standing there with an acoustic guitar strapped on his shoulders. he smiled at her, his prominent dimples showing, making her want to kiss him right then and there. he was wearing sweatpants and a white tee, and his hair was unusually held down. and when she took him in, she realized that he looked perfectly flawless no matter what he wore.
"hi, uh, i actually have a pick up line involving guitars," he started, and she giggled. "but, uh, it was kinda not nice so, i - uh ..." he stuttered, and out of nowhere, aspyn heard a high-pitched feminine voice, her best friend, yell out, "come on, luke! just get it started already, i can't hide here forever!"
and so he did. he started strumming his guitar and sang ...
"wise men say only fools rush in
but i can't help falling in love with you
shall i stay?
would it be a sin
if i can't help falling in love with you? "she was mouthing the words as he sang the famous elvis presley song, smiling at him lovingly as he continued playing the guitar.she found it beautiful, really, that he thought of something like this. but she knew she didn't deserve it; she didn't deserve him.
he was undeniably perfect, from head to toe. she loved his smile, she loved his cheesy pick up lines, she loved how he would always say "uh," she loved his ocean, blue eyes, she loved the kindness that was within him, she loved how she could be childish with him, she loved how he was always up for adventures, she loved how he could do nothing but she would still think he was the most amazing person on earth that has ever exited, and most of all, she loved him.
maybe it was because when she laid eyes on him, she felt like she has known them for years. maybe it was because when he wrapped his arms around him, she felt like she was home. maybe it was because when she was around him, everything seemed to look brighter to her eyes. maybe because it was him ...
but she knew he didn't deserve her as much as she doesn't deserve him; they didn't deserve each other. he was undeniably perfect, and she was perfectly, undeniably a mess.
it couldn't possibly be the order way around, could it?
