seventy two hours, she counted. she hasn't made any contact whatsoever the boy with blonde hair and a heartbeat for seventy two hours.

it was a cold, rainy night, and aspyn was cuddle up on her bed with her soft white little pillows, reading the last pages of looking for alaska, a young-adult novel by one of her favorite authors, john green. if she wasn't watching romantic movies, she was either drinking coffee or reading romantic books - or both. she didn't realize that there were legit tears falling from her eyes until one dropped on the last page of the book, and it made her even cry more.

after reading the acknowledgments and stuff, she closed the book, looked at the cover, and cried. the smoke, probably coming from a cigarette, was the only thing in it aside from all the words written on the sides with the title and author's name. it looked so innocent ... pure ... simple, but the words upon pages and pages of this wonderful book was just magical, and she loved it and hated it at the same time.

was it even possible to love and hate at the same time?

she was practically sobbing when she heard a loud tapping noise coming from somewhere inside her room. thinking it was just some birds or something, she ignored the noise and continued crying her heart out. it stopped for awhile, but continued once again. her eyebrows were scrunched up now, looking around for the source of the sound when she saw a bright, white light peeking from the curtains of her window. out of curiosity, she stood up and went for the window, sliding the curtain to the side to be blinded by the said light.

"aw!" she cried, and the next thing she knew, the light was gone. she opened the window to be greeted by the faint wind and a pair of striking blue eyes.

"uh, can i go inside?" said luke, his voice breaking. "please, i-i need to talk to you."

aspyn moved aside from the window to let him have access to go inside her room, without having any second thoughts. why would she, aside from the fact that she was ignoring him because he was acting weird the last three days and it was giving her a pounding headache, shut her window from a boy who was soaking and cold from the rain, anyway?

luke stumbled in, his bottom hitting the floor with a loud thud. aspyn knelt there beside him, her hand caressing the side of his face, droplets of water falling from his damp hair. "jesus christ, luke, you're soaking wet! let me go get you a towel, okay?"

he might have been the reason of her pounding headache, but he was also the reason the past week of her life had been so happy. so, of course, she got up and rummaged through her closet to find a clean towel for him to use. she ran towards him, kneeling beside him again as she used the towel to dry his hair and wipe his face.

as she did so, she caught him sneaking glimpses at her, making her cheeks heat up instantly. when she couldn't help it no more, she finally looked into his eyes, and before she knew it, he snaked an arm around her waist and pulled her close to him, her lips smashing with his.

she felt him smile in the midst of the kiss, and it made her feel warm. she kissed him back, placing her arms around her neck. soon enough, she was sitting on his lap, her legs on both sides of him as their little innocent kiss turned into a heated make out session. he was still dripping wet under her, but she didn't even care at that point; her mind was filled with lust and fantasy.

"luke," she moaned as his hands went in her shirt, holding her tight at the waist. the sensation of his bare hands touching her bare skin was not what she thought she was getting that night; all she thought was how she was spending the night alone with a book clutched in her hand and tears falling down her face. she guessed she should have expected the unexpected, but who, on their right minds, would think that someone would tap on her window and make her feel beautiful in the middle of the night?

and, of course, because she didn't expect any of this happening, she didn't lock her door, and eventually, jian came barging in, wearing her pikachu onesie she got as a gift for her brithday last year from aspyn, with more books in her hand and her jaw on the floor.

"it's not what it looks like," the blonde and the brunette blurted out in sync, after moving their lips in sync, that is.

"mhm," jian nodded, smirking as she took in what was lying in front of her. "sure it isn't."

aspyn's cheeks were the reddest she never thought they could ever be, and so was luke's, while jian just stood there, in her goddamn pikachu onesie, still smirking deviously in the midst of the eerie silence in the air.

"alright, that's enough!" aspyn stood up from luke's lap, facing her friend. "get out, will you?"

"do you expect me to stand here as you and your little boyfriend make love - "

"we didn't have sex!"

"yeah, but you were going to, if i didn't unexpectedly open your door and saw an unexpected make out session in front of me!"

aspyn opened her mouth but no words came out, and she felt her bum still wet from sitting on luke's lap. when jian saw she wasn't going to respond at any moment, she just laughed in front of her face.

"i'm just gonna, uh, go," she mumbled, trying to stop herself from laughing. "have fun with your boyfriend!"

"he's not my boyfriend!" aspyn yelled out as her best friend ran to the other door, opening it and disappearing inside her room filled with posters and who-knows-what-else-she-kept-in-there.

she sighed, closing the door to her own bedroom and looked back to luke, whose face she couldn't possibly paint as she did not understand what he was trying to say right then and there.

"really?" said luke, tilting his head to the side like a little puppy.

"what?"

"he's not my boyfriend!" he repeated, his voice in a high pitch as if to mock her. she just rolled her eyes at him and got him another clean towel to dry himself as she laid back on her bed, waiting for him to come out of the bathroom and cuddle with her and sing his favorite songs to her as she slowly drifted off to sleep.
