"Em!" I hear my mum shout from downstairs, I ignore her the first couple of times, while I lay inside my cosy bed with my legs stretched out and with one on top of my duvet covers. I know I should probably get out of my bed and start getting ready because today is going to be a long day.

"Are you up?" I hear her scream again and I stuff my face down on my pillow to try and muffle out all the noise. I can hear someone's foot steps upstairs and I'm guessing it's my dad, walking around so he can avoid going downstairs and spending alone time with my mum.

My eyes gently open as soon as I hear him opening my bedroom door  and as soon as my eyes are fully open, I see my dad standing by my door staring at me.

"Why are you still in bed? You are going to be late for your flight." He says and I nod my head as I start to move out of my bed and he closes the door behind him and I mumble to myself like always, "dick."

As soon as I am up from my bed, I pick up my phone from my bedside table and unplug it from its charger and I scroll down Instagram to see if any of my friends have posted anything last night - they were all out at a party while I was asleep trying to get an early night so I wouldn't be tired today but that failed. I really need to start following my plan again, especially now that college is about to start. No more late nights with my friends, especially because I'll know no one in America.

"Em!" My mum roars again and this time it makes me drop my phone, just aswell it's not cracked the screen otherwise today would have been hell of a day for me and those around me. I open my bedroom door and make my way down the stairs, still in my pyjamas - no doubt my dad will have something to say about it. Ever since I got accepted to college in America he started acting up, being really distant but I guess that part isn't new.

"Good morning darling, how are you?" My mum asks me as she places a kiss on my forehead before I take a seat at our breakfast table, and I give her a smile. Her mood changed pretty quickly.

"Morning mum, I'm excited, you?" I ask her.

My mum turns around and walks over to the table and places down some pancakes in front of me and sits down beside me.

"I'll be okay, but sad to see you leave us." She replies and I look over at her, seeing her tear up so I move my hand on top of hers and she holds it tight. I hate that when I leave, she is going to be all alone. My dad is always working and when he is at home he is busy doing other things that don't need to be done.

"Where is dad?" I ask her and she looks down at her food, I would have thought he would be down here with us having breakfast, especially today.

"He left to go to work." She quickly says not looking me in the eye and I can't help but to sound disappointed, "Oh." I can't help but say.

"He wanted to be here but he had to go earlier today."

"Mum you don't have to explain for him."

"I'm sorry darling."

"Don't worry about it!" I say and stand up, leaving my plate full with my pancakes and I place a kiss on my mums forehead before I start to head towards the staircase.

"What about your food?" She asks and I turn around, "I'm running late." I say and she nods and goes back to eating her food, by herself because my selfish dad had to go to work early today, the day I move out and move half way across the world. He couldn't just stay, at least to keep her company and comfort her. If only she could come with me. I have to do this, if I don't I'll be stuck here like her.

I enter my room for the last time, or at least for a while. This time my room looks different, it has been the same since high school. I havent felt the need to change anything around, it was only a couple of months ago that I left. I take what's left of my clothes which are hanging up in my wardrobe and I quickly change into them and then quickly tie my trainer laces before leaving my room and closing the door behind me.

"Sweetie I don't meant to rush you but the taxi is here." My mum shouts from the bottom of the stairs and I start making my way down the stairs, quite slowly because my bags are extremely heavy. Especially for me, I basically have no muscles unless reading a book and flipping pages counts as exercise? I score that thought out of my head and hug my mum as soon as I am at the bottom of the stairs and now standing outside of our front door, where the taxi man is, he takes my luggage and places it inside his taxi and patiently waits for me to join him inside.

"Text me when you land, I love you!" My mum says, waving me goodbye as I drive off.
