I've been studying for a couple of hours and I'm exhausted. I close my books and move to my bed and check my phone to see a missed call from my mum and a few texts from her so I phone her back, although she will probably be asleep now. I keep forgetting the difference in the time zones.

'Hi mum sorry for phoning so late.'

'Hi hunny, it's okay - I'm guessing you were out with your friends?'

If only she knew that I've not made any, at least not yet.

Just as I'm about to reply, there's a knock on my door, maybe it's Rowen and she forgot her key.

'Sorry mum someone is at the door'

'I'll wait'

I go over to the door and open it to see Kyle.

"Hi what you doing here?" I ask him and he smiles as he comes inside.

"Hey, I got your message. You cancelling on me?" He asks.

'Sweetie who is that?' We both hear coming from my phone.

"It's my mum." I whisper and he nods.

I end the call after telling her that a friend came over for some study notes.

"Sorry about that." I tell Kyle and he nods.

"It's fine, so you cancelled tonight so you could study and call your mom?" He asks.

"What's wrong with that?" I ask him and he laughs.

"Nothing, anyway it looks like your finished so we can go now." He tells me and I cross my arms.

Dinner wasn't too bad last night, I decided to go otherwise he would of stayed with me and I didn't want him to. I sat next to Rowen and Kyle sat in front of me and didn't really talk much for the whole evening, at least not to me. I still felt like a stranger to everyone, Rowen had her whole group out for dinner and she told me that it was her birthday today so I went to the shopping centre and picked up a small gift to give to her today when she wakes up. It's Friday and I am so glad that I have one more class till the weekend!

I stretch my arms out and up in the air and I yawn before getting up and out of my bed, I pick up my glasses from my bedside table and put them on. I've decided to have showers at night because it's less busy, by that I mean - Kyle won't be there. I get up from my bed and walk over to Rowen and sit at the end of her bed and I start to sing.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Raisen, happy birthday to you!"

She doesn't wake up the first time I sing it so I give it another go and she finally starts to open her eyes and smiles. "Happy birthday!" I say quietly and give her a hug as she sits up on her bed, I take her present from behind me and hand it over to her. "You didn't have to." She says as she picks up her phone and takes a picture of it, probably posting it on snapchat. "Open it." I say as soon as she puts her phone back down and starts to rip the wrapping paper and pushes it on the floor, "I love it!" She says and pulls me in for a hug.

I got her some makeup from 'Mac' and I also got her a new grey jumper that says 'Raisen'.

"Thank you so much!" She says as I stand up from her bed and walk over to my drawers and start searching for an outfit for today.
