(*Lil' Dragon/ Flame's POV*)
While walking through the thicket I could just barely see the flags of the castle through the trees (which I presumed were on the top of on of a tower). But when we finally made it out of the ticket I was sort of disappointed.
I'd hoped that I would be able to see the village. That is, if the books I'd read applied to this place.
If they did, then the inside the outer castle walls would be the town and in the inner walls would be the castle itself.
I was really wrong, the castle looked like it was pretty much made out of part of the big cliff/ mountain it sat upon. At least, half of it was; the other half, I guessed, was made of some type of limestone. I looked down at the land below and gasped in awe.
Below the castle were large fields that went down as far as the eye could see; peppered with small houses and villages. Yet, as I turned my gaze to my left I saw mountains; running down one of them was a large river that flowed from a large lake.
'Maybe this place isn't so bad.' I thought to myself absorbing the view like a plant would with light during photosynthesis. Well... that was a bad example; but still you get the point.
"Come along darling!" My mother said rushing ushering me to follow them trough a door in the stone that I had only just noticed. My heart sank again. They were not taking me through the front of the city because they were embarrassed of me. I concealed my growing depression and walked through the doorway.
The door obviously led to stairs that went up forever! We must have climbed an hour without stopping before we actually reached our destination.
When we stepped out of the dark stair well we were in a throne room. "Welcome home Flame!" My mother cried opening her arms wide to give me a suffocating yet somehow pleasant hug.
When my mother finally let me go I stared around at the throne room. Arches lining the walls acted as frames for the murals painted on the walls a few feet behind them. The murals appeared to be of saints which seemed a bit odd. As I looked around the room more thoroughly I realized that there were angels painted right under the big blue dome that loomed over the center of the throne room.
'Strange' I thought to myself. 'Did religion on Earth spread to other planets? Or are these people completely different from the saints I had seen when I'd taken refuge in a church once?'
My question was answered for me. "The paintings and the rest of the castle are based off of something from another world called Rrahth." Fredrick said staring at the paintings with me.
"Do you mean Earth?" I asked quizzically.
"Is that how you pronounce it?... weird."
"You're weird." I muttered under my breath as I walked away. I really hoped that I wouldn't actually have to get married to him, because I honestly hated him more than Drew.
Drew... I was actually starting to like him a bit. He wasn't as bad as I had originally thought, but I think that Fredrick being a bigger idiot might have helped Drew gain some of my respect thought.
"Come along darling!" My mother intoned, waving me towards her. "This nice boy... um... what's your name again dear?"
Trevor seemed terrified that the queen was pretty much hugging him and pulling his cheeks. "My name's Trevor."
"Now, now. There's no need to try to tell me, I'll figure it out!" My mother paying no attention to anything to what he was saying.
"I remember now! Your name is Trevor!" She cried patting his cheek a bit hard, too hard maybe because it seemed like she was slapping him in the face.
